On a critical day of negotiations that could effect MLB season games to be cut, Jeter quits. I don't think the timing is a coincidence.

There was a time I couldn't wait for mlb baseball, now it just strikes me as very dysfunctional. I would much rather go to a minor league game than to a major league one.

minor league games are more fun, they are played by kids who are giving it their all, and a hot dog and a beer don't cost $20

I love the Phillies. Easily my favorite professional team in the states. Everton in the EPL is the only other team I really follow closely as a fan.

I would really hate it if we see a month or two taken out of the MLB season. I feel like with the pandemic ending and ballparks being full capacity across the country this year, this would be a massive negative for baseball.

I wonder if (and actually hope) Jeter was turned off by the greed at the top levels of baseball. The sentiment of most of my friends is that they'd be just fine if there was no season at all.

Unfortunately, many of my friends are the same. I hate it. I play fantasy baseball, get MLB.tv and follow closely start to finish. So many in my generation just don't care. They'll go to a game on a Saturday afternoon, but don't watch it at all otherwise.

What's going to be interesting is what players are going to come back all jacked up since the PED testing/rules ended with the end of last season. I hope it doesn't happen, but some guys just can't help themselves.

It seems like Jeter felt he was promised $15 M to spend after the lockout and the owner decided not to spend more. The Marlins are a very talented young team and may have been a few players away from being able to win 80-85 games, with a nice young nucleus. But without the funds to add a few more guys, they may stagnate.

I have no reason why the players don't push for revenue sharing. I know the local contracts are a huge impediment, but there's only a few high revenue teams bidding on the absolute best. That leaves everyone else bidding on pretty fungible 2nd and 3rd tier players, so there's very little incentive to go overboard on those salaries, thus driving those salaries down.

These words could have come directly from my mouth. I 100% agree. There was a time when I was younger when I never missed a Pirates game on tv. I would watch every night with my dad. We both loved it - thinking about it now, it was probably less about the baseball and more about spending time together, but the point remains. Baseball was such a huge part of my life.

I didn’t watch a single game last year. Even more surprising, my dad watched very little too. I couldn’t recognize 5 guys in the all-star game.

On the flip side, we went to at least one minor league game a week last season and most weeks multiple games. My kids love it, I love it and my parents love it. I know it’s strange to say, but In my humble opinion it’s a better product that what MLB has become.

I definitely prefer minor league baseball. It's a much smaller venue, parking is easier, tickets are easier, it's just not nearly as difficult to take the family and it doesn’t require a ton of planning. The games are often day games on the weekends or early evening on weekdays, there's usually kid centered activities, and because there are no commercials the games are only around 2 hours.

Are you talking about Alabama, Ohio state, Georgia, and aTm??
