Why would Kelly leave LSU for Michigan?
Easier path to playoffs & a national championship. But I don’t think Kiffin leaves Mississippi for LSU.

edit: looks like they’ll probably just promote the assistant who coached them while Harbaugh was out so its moot anyway.

We need to see at least a year of the 12-team playoff to know how it's all going to shake out, but my guess is the SEC and Big Ten will expect 4+ teams each year. Maybe 5 or 6 some years.

LSU should expect to contend for the CFP every year. Michigan, too.

I agree. But Michigan will be top 4 in Big 10 every year. LSU won’t be top 4 in SEC every year. Looks like Michigan is just promoting the assistant anyway.

He's already done pretty well with the 49ers. Trips to a Super Bowl and 2 other NFCCG over 4 years.
He was in the NFL, but it was with the 49ers organization. This is the Chargers. They have always been bridesmaids and nothing near San Francisco. You can be a great coach, but if it is in the wrong organization, it's not going to matter.

Before this year, LSU had won 3 national titles - under 3 different coaches - since the last time Michigan won one way back in 1997 (which was a pre-BCS shared title). Saying Michigan has an easier path than LSU is a massive stretch. LSU is always going to have them beat in spades as far as talent.
