Son1 did a few stints at GE cincy while at state. One summer Saturday night we went downtown to the drinking streets and it felt a bit shady. We’d go from bar to bar and bros would be hanging on the sidewalk leaning on their old chevys smoking and drinking watching us all walk by. If they say he pulled a gun out there I 100% believe it

The Bengals drafted him knowing his past.

He likes to abuse women. He’s a heathen.

Had Ickey Woods and two other Bengals DBs barking at me and my friends after a Bobby Brown, LeVert concert in Cincy . The 3 of them were stuffing into a Porsche 928. That couldn’t have been comfortable .

Maybe true whenever that was. But now? Nonsense. Is it perfect? No. But like Cleveland its been revitalized.

When my team flew in and met with the UC athletic dept. in the late 90s, they wouldn't let us stay within 15 miles of the city because of the gun violence. It's literally night and day now. Much better place. I know, because our oldest daughter is there.

Like any cities, there are sections where you see bad stuff but Cincinnati has come around. Over-the-Rhine has awesome bars and restaurants and downtown has a very nice riverwalk and plenty of bars and restaurants and culture. Even Clifton has been cleaned up.

I'm a North Carolinian but have been out there quite a bit over the last four years and its an easy city to hang out in, plus the people are Midwestern friendly, salt of the earth types. Last time, I was there I was in the Bengals store at the stadium and the manager comes over to help my son and asks where we are from. I tell him from Carolina but grew up in PA and went to PSU. He smiles and says "you guys are everywhere, my best friend is a Nittany Lion. Then he says I think Allar is going to be great. He's really good etc." Turns out he is an OSU fan of course but also a Miami University fan, having run their bookstore for a few years before going to the Bengals. I told him about my daughter's great experience at Miami and he said no surprise, its a great school etc. Seemed like a down to earth guy. Will be back in the 'Natti in a couple of weeks.

Bengals have some shady characters on that team and some really chippy players too. Glad KC took them out, but go Eagles!
The Eagles had a player charged with rape. People in glass houses shouldn’t throw stones.

Make no mistake, my son loved Cincy and they offered him a job (he went to LA instead) but that night I was happy my wife wasn’t out there running around with her girls. I was fine.

Cincinnati is a growing, thriving city, I’ve lived here for decades. Top notch hospitals, # 1 zoo in the country, great restaurants, great cost of living. GE Aviation new HQ will be here. 7 or 8 Fortune 500 companies are located here. Largest metro area in Ohio.

I thought Columbus was now largest metro area in Ohio.

"Cincinnati saw a record number of homicides of 2020 with 94 killings and matched that record with another 94 homicides in 2021.

The previous high record for killings in the city in a single year was 88 in 2006."

Thanks for the data but let’s make sure we know where, to give us context for the numbers. As we know, Covid led to increases in crime in poorer areas, particularly in certain areas of cities (see Chicago). In 1998, a college baseball game on campus was interrupted by gunfire. That’s not something anyone at UC expects now.

Look at the rest of the data ... that (the portion about the last couple years) was just 1 of 3 articles/portions of articles/charts I presented. Homicides have certainly not decreased since the 1990s.

Speaking of 1998, the year itself was a significant outlier in being a comparatively SAFE year in Cincy ... https://www.cincinnati.com/story/ne...safe-cincinnati-what-can-we-learn/2052912002/

I'm guessing no one expected a college baseball game to be interrupted by gunfire in 1998, either. Sometimes violence happens in weird, unsuspecting places.

There is no way you can compare Clifton now to Clifton (part of the city where UC is) then. Night and day. I responded to a poster who conveyed the notion that Cincinnati (downtown) is a dangerous place. I’m there every four months and I was there for work in the late 90s. I would not have visited in the late 90s if not for work. In fact, the client told me the same. Now, it’s a great place to hang out in - will be there in a few weeks again. Murder rate is one statistic to look at in terms of a city’s safety or lack thereof Btw. I would recommend Cincinnati downtown to everyone on this board. It’s revitalized.

OK. I was just responding to your commentary that you weren't "allowed" to stay within 15 miles of the city back in the 1990s, because of the gun violence. But now it's night and day better ... even though gun violence is actually up in the city.

According to city-data crime rates, it looks like the crime rate has declined in Cincy, at least since 2006 ... but there's still more crime (per capita) in Cincy than in Philly (which is 5 times as large) ... and twice as much as in Boston (which is twice as large) ... all 3 are better than Cleveland (which hasn't seen the steep decline in crime rates that many other cities have seen in that time frame), however.

Only you, in your usual misguided ways, would be woefully attempting to defend major-city urban crime. 🙄

Allah broke the mold with you.

It’s all good

In 2022, Ohio repealed its law requiring people 21 years-of-age and older who wish to carry a concealed handgun in public to obtain a permit and background check1.
