Everybody cries and bags on the NCAA, so let's play what if.

What if - they had made the decision to keep money out of their sports? College sports would have remained the way it was, but players and woke journalists would have continued their virtue-signaling *****-fest.

What if - they had made the decision to allow pay-for-play by killing amateurism, and making them employees? Interest would plummet.

That said, I do agree they messed up with allowing both NIL and the portal, immediately, along with the extra COVID year (that wasn't even needed for football). But a well-regulated NIL program makes the most sense to me. The portal, probably less so, although I could see many situations where it benefits MSU. We'll have more proof of this later on.

The NCAA didn’t make the decision to bring NIL into college sports. They fought it tooth and nail, but the courts ruled that the NCAA’s amateur model was illegal.

The NCAA needs to find a way to introduce some guard rails, but a lot of this is out of their hands.
