BINGO.Not to say his ideas aren't worth considering but many FBS programs work their schedules to have seven home games every season. Klatt's plan would only allow for six home games every other year. I don't know what the PSU revenue is for a home game. Figuring in students, say the average ticket price is $40 (very, very ballpark). 100,000 tickets sold per game = $4,000,000. That's not figuring in parking and concessions. Would PSU be willing to say goodbye to at least $4,000,000 every other year? Many other athletic departments in the same boat would be unhappy as well.
add in the revenue to the town and there is nobody voting to give that upNot to say his ideas aren't worth considering but many FBS programs work their schedules to have seven home games every season. The revenue for a PSU home game is at least $6-6.5MM per game. Not to say his ideas aren't worth considering but many FBS programs work their schedules to have seven home games every season. Yep. That was my exact initial thought as well. It would work if each school played 8 conference games and two cupcakes but teams aren’t giving up the revenue of those extra home games. Not to say his ideas aren't worth considering but many FBS programs work their schedules to have seven home games every season. The only way it works is if the TV money gets even larger. That would be 4-1/2 games so they can get more commercials in.
Seriously though, who wouldn’t want to see the B1G vs SEC come to an agreement on scheduling one game per year? Have two easier games to start the season then B1G vs SEC before conference play begins. That tweet alone would drive TV revenue through the roof.
