Horrible coaching and development last two staffs. Who knows how many players have been wasted, Albert Reese is a good example. he did not see the field last year. What a joke.
The John Lewis situation really bothers me. Lebby selected him to represent us at SEC media days. You would hope your coach would have a better read on things. This says more about Lebby than JL.

I guess I missed the announcement that Parson was leaving too, but I get it. With him gone and MVB still a work in progress, we better either have a plan to bring Shapen back or else find another respectable vet from the portal.
I know I'm not telling anyone anything that they don't know, but this roster is an absolute disaster. We could sign 25 3-4* guys out of the portal plus our HS/JUCO class, and it still wouldn't be enough to fill the gaping holes

I would not be surprised at all to see the QB that got benched at Oklahoma transfer in. Not sure if that's a good thing or not.
Awesome…. We need to sign players all over the defense before the portal… now we have three LBs, a DL, and CB going out with one DB to come in.
Thing is.. Lebby did a decent job of getting some good signees in during the month between his arrival and signing day. Now we are at a big net loss in the portal at positions of dire need.

Right now these transfer portal announcements mean nothing on the coaching staffs. It is just the game now. Some are using leverage. Some will really go.
also, Have y'all seen OMs Simmons and Perkins have announced they are going into the portal?
Also, you can't sign guys until after Dec 9. So it will take some time to get incoming numbers up to the out going numbers.

Looks to me like he's running off the Leach guys first and foremost.
It wasn't a strategy that worked for him last year. But I guess they know best FARRRRRRRRT
maybe leach guys knew they didnt fit the new system well, and left on their own...... tends to be a problem with leach guys
4 or 5th best QB in the worst power 4 league. Would be a bottom tier QB in this league... actually dont know of anyone off the top of my head, he'd replace as the starter... kentucky and auburn maybe?

I'm sure most here will say screw those guys headed out but I remember when everyone of them committed. I remember being excited and then watching for their names to pop up on signing day. It's gonna take some good crootin to.replace them and I have zero.faith in this staff adding good quality players. Esp on D
That was one of the dumbest, most brain dead decisions ever. Hold on to one mediocre recruiting class but torpedo the entire program. Keenum is a genius.
They've been worried about Bama poaching Perkins. Apparently, there's been a lot of tampering going on with him. Shocked that Simmons did, unless he's trying to get a deal like Dart got when he hopped in the portal (i think it was year before last)

I was thinking the same thing. I don't think that the list of outgoing players is done, but it's already a virtual who's who of guys that we were thrilled to sign over the last few years.
It's just depressing. We recruit at the bottom of the SEC for HS/JUCO talent, the guys that we have gotten are leaving, and then our portal work is also sub .500 in the league on a good day. We're all desperately clinging to the hope that maybe, just maybe, some coaching continuity will fix things, but I still can't put my finger on one thing that this staff does well
The only positive way to look at it is to say " well these guys sucked on D this year so surely they were not good". Sooo...I guess we will see what these doofuses do to replace them. That's why I wasn't crying for Hutzler to be fired. But..if our portal haul sucks it's gonna be hard to improve this team. Fans are already p*ssed and I'm guessing a lot of players are. I don't know that but Lebby may be digging himself a nice hole and ain't smart enough to stop digging. Edited to add: some of these guys are gonna be disappointed when nobody but Troy wants them. What team is gonna want guys off our team ? Lol. And like Gabe Moore has not played a single down for us in 2 years. So we ain't losing much in some cases.

I don't have confidence in this staff at all, but I might have even less confidence in my ability to judge what we are losing or getting in the portal.
As an example. I was completely underwhelmed by Purcell's portal players this year vs last, but this seems to be a more cohesive and better group than last year. Hell he's got them back in the Top 25 (for 1 week at least)

You're definition of terrible is different than mine apparently. We've had some of those. Will definitely wasn't.
If Lenny thinks he’s gonna go out and be able to replace guys like those two, or sign guys better than them regularly, like what used to happen at Oklahoma, he’s smoking crack. Those are the prototypical MSU recruits. He better learn real quick how to win with guys like that.
I would say “or he’s not the man for the job”. But we already know that. We need a coach who can. We can’t be sitting around waiting for a coach to ‘get his players in here’ because we know that never happens.
We were the worst defense in the sec this year by every measurable category. We could fire the entire defensive staff and lose every player for all I care. Literally can’t get any worse.
He's put fewer in the NFL than Lebby (I kid but not by much). None have been a legit starting QB really. His 1st round pick was a flop.
