Burch did what Burch thought was best for Burch. But it’s a two way street. I am confident that Beamer will do what is in the best interest of the USC football family regarding wether or not a particular player returns

From my perspective all I saw was a good player in Burch. So I am giving it a thumbs up for him to come back. But the staff/team will have a better idea of his character, attitude and loyalty.

Source of rumor? Probably just media click bait. Aka: FAKE NEWS.

I would agree, with some caveats. So long as he didn't trash the program on the way out, burn bridges and that sort of thing. If he was transparent with coaches and just made a personal business decision, I have no issue taking him back, so long as it's determined that he can help the team.

That said, I don't think this is actually happening. It's probably just a rumor started by whoever runs that Twitter page, but it does raise the interesting question, with the advent of the portal, of whether teams would take back a player who transferred out.

If this was a one-off, taking him back seems like the obvious choice. However, given the current landscape, this is a scenerio that might not be unique over time. Do we want to signal to players that we endorse sabbaticals? I'm not so sure.

It's certainly a mulitfactorial decision. In what manner did the kid leave the program? Why does he want to come back? Would he make the team better? If you get suitable answers to those questions, then green light it.

That said, if this situation ever did arise, Beamer may very well decide it would run counter to the culture he's establishing. I would certainly be fine with that, too.

This is just life in the era of the portal. If I would wave a magic wand and make the portal go away, I would.

Were you a 21 year old college student?? I was. Were you a 21 year old college student with universities promising you $$ to transfer there?? Yeah, I wasn't either. I was in no way, shape, or form a functioning adult at the age of 21. A 21 year old that didn't go to college that's been in the real world for 3-4 years is not a 21 year old college student. It's like Disney Land vs Office Space. A 21 year old college student is a kid. Especially one that's been coddled and told by everyone how great he is for 5-10 years.

I think Beamer has done enough for us to trust him here. If this is true and Burch is wanting to come back, I trust Beamer will make the right decision for the program. I think it's worth noting that Burch waiting until after the bowl game to make this decision. There's a huge difference in Jordan Burch and Bell/Lloyd.
No, at 21 I was a college graduate and had begun my current profession. I turned 22 about 2.5 months into that career. I’d bet we are the only country and generation of this country that calls a 21 year old a kid and mean it that in a way that conveys a belief they aren’t a young adult.

Do 21 year old folks do stupid stuff, absolutely.

The dude left the program. For a short moment Carolina wasn’t good enough. I appreciate him finishing the season last year, but he left.
