Oklahoma did.I would agree, with some caveats. So long as he didn't trash the program on the way out, burn bridges and that sort of thing. If he was transparent with coaches and just made a personal business decision, I have no issue taking him back, so long as it's determined that he can help the team.
That said, I don't think this is actually happening. It's probably just a rumor started by whoever runs that Twitter page, but it does raise the interesting question, with the advent of the portal, of whether teams would take back a player who transferred out.
If this was a one-off, taking him back seems like the obvious choice. However, given the current landscape, this is a scenerio that might not be unique over time. Do we want to signal to players that we endorse sabbaticals? I'm not so sure.
No, at 21 I was a college graduate and had begun my current profession. I turned 22 about 2.5 months into that career. I’d bet we are the only country and generation of this country that calls a 21 year old a kid and mean it that in a way that conveys a belief they aren’t a young adult. Were you a 21 year old college student?? I was. Were you a 21 year old college student with universities promising you $$ to transfer there?? Yeah, I wasn't either. I was in no way, shape, or form a functioning adult at the age of 21. A 21 year old that didn't go to college that's been in the real world for 3-4 years is not a 21 year old college student. It's like Disney Land vs Office Space. A 21 year old college student is a kid. Especially one that's been coddled and told by everyone how great he is for 5-10 years.
I think Beamer has done enough for us to trust him here. If this is true and Burch is wanting to come back, I trust Beamer will make the right decision for the program. I think it's worth noting that Burch waiting until after the bowl game to make this decision. There's a huge difference in Jordan Burch and Bell/Lloyd.
