At a loss for words. There are nights (and days) I hate being a State fan. Seems it's always us for the first win since .... , most points ever, etc.
You noticed I didn't say "but" lady dogs lose. I said "and" lady dogs lose like not surprised at all.

Between our abysmal turnover abilities and pisspoor FTs down the stretch, along with pisspoor officiating not helping and pisspoor rebounding, we deserved this pisspoor L.
It’s women’s basketball. I hope we win every game we play but I don’t care if we lose.
The days of Vic leading us into the Final Four are gone.

Yep, I just can't give any emotional investment to women's basketball when the program essentially left with VS. Too many other things to worry about. Would like us to be competitive in all sports if possible but if we were going to make women's BB a priority then Cohen should have done much more to keep VS. Purcell had zero track record when we hired him so no shock things are what they are.
If we keep losing WBB games, how’re we going to make up the $37M deficit?

Shame to lose this one . Jordan was most of our offense. She must have been worn out at the end when she makes only 1-5 of her free throws and turned the ball over with 9 seconds to go. hell of a way to loose . Sam is just mediocre . He's far from being as good as Vic .
I turned it on, was tied 73-73. Figured I’d watch last couple of minutes. Saw a few turnovers, some badly missed shots, we lose on buzzer beater. I changed channel to watch food network reruns and thought - hard to believe there was a time when I cared about wbb.
Amazing what Vic did here.
It really is amazing what Vic did here in a relative short period of time. He took a historically middle of the road at best program and turned them into a Final Four program that should’ve won a national championship. Then he leaves and we immediately go back to being a middle of the road program. It took no time at all to go from the top of the mountain back to where we were before Vic got here.
No foul on the “steal” before the game winner. Geez. She dribbled behind her back because of the foul and then got mauled after that. So basically 2 uncalled fouls. Also they were trying to foul so they had some time left on the clock. What a botch job by that crew. No situational awareness.
Definitely a far cry... player development is minimal, The sad thing is he is good at recruiting. Seems we've had this problem in basketball prior.
i was begging for Purcell to put both big girls in and for sure get a shot up with time to rebound. instead we turn it over and then the 6 foot girl for MO> dribbles down and we guard her with a 5'5" point guard for the game winner with no time left--why we didn't double team her is a mystery. we have one of the leaders in SEC in 3 point shooting but we never set Her up. Instead of 20 lplus turnovers a game, it would make sense for her to Jack up 3s and let Okot rebound. a bad shot is better that a TO going the other way for a lay up.

I am always amazed at the number of missed layups in the women's game and how so many tall women can't jump and get out rebounded by shorter players. Makes the game difficult to watch for me.
And I think calling us "middle of the road" as a program before and after Vic is being generous. We will NEVER see anything close to the heights we had under Schaefer so its kind of hard to rev up any excitement for the program.
McPhaul was sick and didn't travel to Como. She has become a top 3 offense weapon. Powe was also sick but played about 12 minutes. That means 6 players played the majority of the game for State. As for Mizzou, they were 10-9 (0-6) coming in with all 10 wins against quad 4 teams. It was a bad loss, even with a limited roster. The bench is very weak and that is Howdy Doody's fault.
There is still a huge drop-off after about #6 in the women's game every year. Lots of room for a Vic to run in and put a program up there. This year, there's a 1-2 plateau a 3-6 and the 7-20. Someone needs to get in Vic's ear and tell him to come back for better success here. Tsips put football #1 and baseball a distant #2.
Question for the masses - Is it worth it to spend heavily for a women's basketball coach?
To keep one here? Maybe, would have to have a couple national championships under the belt
To bring one in? Absolutely not.
Nope. Only women's sport we should spend heavily on is soccer. Because I like soccer.
I would call Vic and see what heavily looked like. What are the comparable salaries.
I was at State when Prairie View A&M football was in the midst of their 80-game losing streak. My friends and I frequently commented that if they wanted to end the streak, all they needed to do was schedule a game against us.
Losing to Missouri is like being slapped in front of your woman, in any sport, especially in women’s basketball.
Would we still need to make room for his daughter to prowl the players?
I don't think we have any players from Australia that she would like to go down under anymore
