Dave Parker? Good grief. Did the committee decide to see how much they could troll Dale Murphy fans?
Dave Parker is an inductee from the Classic Era committee. It’s not the normal ballot.

If players like Joe Mauer and Kirby Puckett can be in the HOF then Murphy can too. And I get the knock on Murphy, the beginning and end of his career were very average but you can’t argue with what he did in his prime.

You might want to compare their career stats. Parker won an MVP and his career stats are pretty clearly better.

I fall in the camp that they should both be in.

Murphy won 2 MVPS to Parkers 1. Better war, better OPS, More HR, More Gold Gloves, More Silver Sluggers, Same All Star game appearances. About the same RBI per plate appearance.

Parker had more hits and a better BA.

MLB really needs a maximum contract term of 5-7 years to protect these owners from themselves.

Also need to eliminate deferred money (which this deal doesn’t have)

And more RBIs, which matters more than HRs.

I'll backtrack in saying his stats are clearly better. They just had similar careers in the same era. If one is in, the other should be and hopefully will be.

Agree. I’m not opposed to Parker. More RBIs but also a lot more PAs. And I think Parker played on better teams so he would have more opportunities. When you break it down per PA they are about the same though. RBI totals aren’t a great stat when you don’t know BA with RISP.

Alex Anthopolous sitting on his hands once again while another division rival gets much better. News at 11.

All I know is that nobody would pay them if they thought they wouldn't get value-for-value PLUS a profit from the deal.

The Mets owner is ridiculously rich (supposedly he's the inspiration for the TV show Billions). He can probably make enough money to cover the total value of Soto's contract in one day and stick it in escrow.

Another one whose time is due is Lou Whitaker. His case is about as compelling as Murph. Only 20 2nd basemen in hall. Sweet Lou has to be top ten all time. It’s time he got in as well.
