Just got off the phone with Ole Miss AD Pete Boone and director of finance John Hartwell. Here's what they had to say about the new Jumbotron that's supposed to replace the old one at Vaught-Hemingway Stadium:

It will be big: The actual screen is 84 feet wide by 48 feet tall and it's supposed to be HD quality. Also included in the construction is a new sound system and a screen on the back side of the structure that will list upcoming events, etc...

The cost: Hartwell said four bids have been submitted for the project, ranging from 5.2 million to 7.7 million. Hartwell and Boone said the winning bid would be chosen on Wednesday.

Who's paying: TeleSouth, which is paying for this in exchange for a media rights package at Ole Miss.

When will it be done: Hartwell said construction would take about two months. If all goes well, it could be done by mid-July so that tests could be run to make sure everything's right by the opening football game.
