Some of these people on the internet that you lambasted during the press conference about your OC hire, could be the same people that give money to the NIL. Be careful what you say!
Lol…so btween players wanting to be featured, their parents wanting them featured, the message board geniuses, malcontent players pointing fingers at everyone but themselves, recruits negotiating money daily, etc………I say he was spot on. His job is to win…not cherish your feelings. He wins, money takes care of itself.

He can’t win with some people

I'm quite sure he didn't lose any NIL money from the continual naysayers!🤪

Yeah, I'd show restraint if I was Shane. If not, an old USC professor of mine would have used an expression that he used in class: that would be very Polack of Shane.

Well, I guess we’ll be $50 short every now and then.
Haha, you are correct! The thing I like also is (1) they have no investment in school or team (they will come back with with: I have been a gold spur for 40 years) and/or (2) they aren't graduates. Just negative about everything. Now, there are times you should be negative, but it's not immediately following the hire by head coach. If he proves to not work out, that is something else.

I think it's a mistake to guess people's monetary investment by the perceived attitude if their posts.

I also disagree (surprise) about the timing of questioning the hire. I am certainly a "show me" type of person, so I won't claim his failure or success now. But debating the merits of just about everything involving the team is the point of these message boards. This place would be boring if it was thread after thread of "saw the game/hire/scrimmage, not going to comment for a couple years to see how it works out."

Didn’t listen. Assumed he’d be prickly because he often is. Also assumed it would be a mutual love fest that also gave the impression everything is under control and that the various transfers and decommits were expected.

I learned long ago that everyone knows who the boss is. You don’t need to remind anyone, and you don’t need to be an a$$hole.

So is that what’s been going on……a “debate” about the pros and cons of the hire? Not what I’ve been reading but It’s all about perception I guess. You would think we hired Hitler by some of these posts. I am going to allow this guy some games to start my opinion. Liked what Shane said today, and liked the new OC. ……..Now let’s begin anew shall we?

I would say a good portion of it is debate. His record as an OC, his demise as such and return to the college ranks, his level of recruiting prowess, all discussed.

I guess I dismiss the extreme hand wringing easily, so it doesn't bother me.

He didn’t say all the transfers were expected. He made it clear that everything seemed good and positive with Lloyd until ML went home for the . holidays. He explained it as unexpected as I saw it. Being the boss also doesn’t mean you have to listen to bold face lies and not address them. Reporters are asking questions based on crap. They read on Twitter. Shane succinctly told them Twitter and social media or not real life. Couldn’t have said it better myself.

I get that people look at his time as OC in the NFL but no one has mentioned the teams he was at were at the bottom as far as talent level goes when he was there. It’s hard to judge someone when the lack of talent impacts what you’re able to accomplish.

Some of the suppositions put up on this board were outrageous. Posters were predicting doom and gloom like they were experts at predicting the future. They lambasted Beamer like he fell off a turnip truck and forgot the things accomplished by the program he's run for the last 2 years.

That is true about the teams he was on. Might have been the other board, but it was brought up. The concern I had was that,IMO, there is more parity in the nfl than there is across the sec. Meaning he's not going to out talent a lot of teams on our yearly schedule.

No, but he’s also not going to face rosters on a weekly basis that are NFL caliber. He also seems to be a very good QB coach, something we haven’t had in a while.

Actually, he's not going to face any rosters that are nfl caliber. :)

I wasn't guessing their monetary involvement. When someone is challenged about being negative about something, they claim they are longtime silver spurs, etc.

Ah, my mistake. I read the part about them not having an investment in the team as a monetary thing.

He hired the guy, it got backlash, he's got to defend it. That is how it goes when you make a controversial hire. He made the best case he could for the guy. I still don't think it was a good enough case, but it was the best case that could be made non-the-less.
