The difference was the threes. They made 16 off of 50% shooting from behind the arc. Not all of those were wide open either. We weren't awful from 3, we made 12 ourselves, something like 35%, but they were just lights out. It's amazing we kept it as close as we did. My only complaint on our part was that we got a bit lazy for a few short stretches in defense. That cost us.

That's the best atmosphere I've been in at the Hump in at least 15 years. It's not back to the old snake pit, but it was close. The crowd has forgotten how to REALLY ride the refs. The refs weren't terrible, but there were a few no calls at key times that they needed to hear about it a LOT longer than they did tonight.

It was a tough hard fought loss. The fact that it was at home stings.......but have to put it behind us and move on.

Yep, put it behind us and move on to the absolute meat grinder of conference play. Everyone needs to hang on their a s s and not freak out if we lose a couple games. We’re good and the competition out there is also good and better than us. Saddle up.

Better than us? I'm not saying that unless they beat us. I think we can go toe-to-toe with any SEC team when we play our game. We seem to always play Kentucky's game when we play them.

Look, this is something this board has a hard time accepting:

Even when you have talent and play solid, you can lose to a team that has a “outlier” game shooting.

Great game by MSU. Have amnesia and look forward to hoping to face their lucky big blue asses again later this season and handing them an ‘L’

This is certainly true. But it’s also true that we give up good three point looks on a regular basis and count on teams to miss.

Memphis for example came into our game as the number two 3-point shooting team percentage wise in the nation and couldn’t throw it in the ocean against us.

We choose to collapse down and hope teams miss shots. It works pretty well usually , but sooner or later we were going to run into a hot team. Happened last night.

And no, most of the threes they hit weren’t guarded well.

Yes, under your logic, there are teams that are going to beat us in conference play, and could therefore be considered better than us. That IS going to happen and everyone needs to hang in there when we lose a game or two consecutively.

Was lucky enough to be in the Hump last night with my 6 year old son. Hell of an atmosphere and hell of a game.
First time he’d been to a big time game. Overwhelmed him at first but he adjusted and had a blast.
Think Kugel going out hurt us more than many will admit
