He actually laughed at the notion. Greg says, and i quote "Come on Kel. Jack Cristil is an icon and Jim Ellis has done a tremendous job for our University. There is no truth to any rumor of this rumor.

Come on guys. Greg is on vacation...a vacation he had to change as a result of the presidential search i might add. Obviously with a change at the top comes change throughout the department and that may very well continue. Be careful in starting threads so controversial if you aren't real sure of their validity. If Jack does decide to call it quits now or in the near future, don't ruin our opportunity to honor him for his longevity and years of service with this kind of speculation. He has earned the right to walk away on his terms and Greg has no intention of having it any other way.

I think with the track record Greg has established thus far, he deserves the benefit of the doubt.

and i love how this site encourages rumors. It just happens in this case i know the truth, and quite frankly the rumor does more harm than good. Slow time of year, slow sports day..i get. Bottom line is Jack will be "OUR" Jack until he chooses otherwise.

I was just screwing around with dawgstudent by posting that buy/sell. It's pretty obvious that a few people aren't too happy with the way Byrne is doing things. What better way for them to stir up trouble for him than to start a rumor that he wants to fire Jack Cristil when he's thousands of miles away? I doubt this is the last wild false rumor that makes the rounds.

I was sent a private message this morning with the rumor and I asked the person if it was ok to post. No big deal. I am glad it is wrong and I like Byrne. So it's a happy day in the land of milk and honey.

I know this might make me sound sick but I find message boards fun and I take everything with a grain of salt. If I took all the **** that is spewed on here seriously, we would not all still be here. The only thing that an unalienable truth is the fatness of HD6.

These people may or may not have a legitimate claim for age discrimination, but as long they have a year-to-year contract that expires on June 30, which almost every athletic department employee does--and it appears they got their 2-week notice as well--they don't have due process rights since they haven't been deprived of a property interest.

As for age discrimination, it probably wouldn't be too hard to find people testify about Pat Wallace's ****** job performance and Edwards has, according to most reports, been mailing it in for a while now. I seriously doubt Greg Byrne, who has seen how athletic departments run his whole life, failed to check these things out.
