She’s good friends with one of my coworkers who is there now. Really cool. Her times are almost as impressive as our baseball attendance record.
Folks that know swimming WAY better than me say she's the GOAT of female swimmers.
2 straight golds in the grueling 1,500M (there have only been two female Olympic 1,500M). Basically a mile in a pool as hard as you can go. She was 10 seconds faster than 2nd best in the world.
Going for a 4th straight gold in the 800. Hasn't been beaten in an 800 in 12 years. More Individual World Championship golds than Phelps.

That's just absolutely insane. Man or woman, that is just 17ing crazy impressive stat.

May not be able to keep up. 1500 meters in a pool is a lot of stamina. Better not eat and take blue pill.

Side bar…anybody know why 1500 rather than 1600? They do 50, 100, 200, 400, 800 &…1500.
Wow! That’s pretty much my 25m splits when I swim 500m. Granted, I’m not going all out, but I’m also only going 1/3 as far. She’s incredible.
If it was 1975, she'd have the men's world record in the 1,500. Estimates say it'll be 2054 before any other female touches her WR.
You sent me down an Internet search rabbit hole. There doesn't seem to be a good answer other than the first Olympics used 1,500.
1,600 makes much more sense. Just short of a mile and an even 4 laps on a standard track.
I’d be willing to bet that Ledecky swims a mile faster than some Sixpackers can run/walk it. She’s incredible.
Honestly, she might start lapping others swimmers at that point.
I want to be this happy again.
