This might be the most wide open Derby in a quite a while. Who do you have? I have the 1-3-10-12 in an exacta. But just in case the track gets sloppy I threw in another exacta with the 5-7-15-17. If the latter hits it will be a huge payout.

1) Mo Donegal 8-1
2) Happy Jack 21-1
3) Epicenter 5-1
4) Summer Is Tomorrow 42-1
5) Smile Happy 14-1
6) Messier 7-1
7) Crown Pride (JPN) 17-1
8) Charge It 13-1
9) Tiz the Bomb 25-1
10) Zandon 8-1
11) Pioneer of Medina 47-1
12) Taiba 5-1
13) Simplification 40-1
14) Barber Road 40-1
15) White Abarrio 11-1
16) Cyberknife 14-1
17) Classic Causeway 67-1
18) Tawny Port 67-1
19) Zozos 39-1
2) Rich Strike 99-1

What a bunch of crappy names. My favorite Derby horse, and name, was Northern Dancer who won in 1964.

Yes indeed Fair, Northern Dancer was a tremendous colt. He backed up that name with quite a career.

A Canadian bred that won the Kentucky Derby and Preakness. He finished 3rd in the Belmont Stakes (In 1964 the Belmont was run at Aqueduct). He earned a half million plus during the mid 1960’s!

I will add that he was one of the most successful sires of the 20th century.

What a bunch of crappy names.
Ain't that the truth. I scrolled thru that list looking for one to capture my imagination, and none of them did. "Summer Is Tomorrow?" WTF is that? Sounds like a bad remake of the Star Trek episode "Tomorrow Is Yesterday." "Happy Jack?" Now, "Captain Jack" I could see. "Messier" is rather obscure, are they referring to the historic French automobile maker, the aircraft undercarriage manufacturer, or a hockey player? "Charge It" reminds me of the Flintstones wives:

Secretariat could still beat any of them- and he's been dead for years
Sham (The horse who finished second to Secretariat) would have soundly defeated American Pharaoh and Justify in the K-Derby and Preakness. In the mile and half Belmont Secretariat would have defeated American Pharoah by 12 lengths and crushed Justify by an embarrassing 24 lengths. Secretariat was all heart!!

Actually that is almost literally true. The average thoroughbreds heart weighs 8.5 pounds. Secretariats weighed between 21 and 22 pounds.

Watch Secretariat Preakness win on the YouTube link below. I swear he gave the field a head start like in a playground race. Watching him go from last to first in about 15 seconds on the first turn is breathtaking. This move begins at about the 35 second mark of the video.
1973 Preakness.

I thought that was called a superfecta?

I like Epicenter. Not really sure why he isn't the betting favorite.

Secretariat holds the speed records for all three races of the Triple Crown. He also set the world record for 1.5 miles in the Belmont.

He is. But I’d like to see Taiba win. He has only two races, which he won. Auctioned for $1.7m. Co-favorite at 5 to 1.
