incredible. We set up our tailgate at noon yesterday. As the day progressed, I was amazed how our fans just keep showing up, year after year, no matter what. The weather was hot, humid, and uncomfortable. And yet, for a 7:30 game, against a really awful opponent, the stadium ended up being 90% full.

Our football fans don’t get enough credit. It’s easy rooting for a consistent winner, but, our fans show up every year.

Never underestimate a group to pat itself on the back. "You know who doesn't get enough credit for being awesome. Us. Fans of America's 30th, and the SECs 13th, ranked team in college football attendance."

I'm sure UK is a lot better than # 30 in attendance as a percentage of capacity.

Always been a great fan base but there comes a time like the Joker years where it takes empty seats to force a change, hope it doesn’t get to that point but this season will be telling.

Well woopity shyts. Who cares?

No one's turning down going to a game because they can't find tickets.Triple the size of Commonwealth. It's still getting the same number of fans. Mitch shrunk the stadium seats down the right amount. We deserve hosannas for that?

Most at least have enough disposable income to attend UK games .
As far as I know, they're not giving away tickets yet.
I'd say they're doing something right in life.
Ignore that ahole. I‘ve been going to games for more than 30 years. I enjoy it. My wife and I work hard, play hard. Pay our taxes. Don’t have a rap sheet. Productive citizens. Give to charities. Especially to Veterans, and will continue to do what we want to.

Yeah. It was so bad with Joker, that there were a lot of empty seats. That’s the exception though.

I remember his last game at CS. Lost to Vandy 40-0.

We left after the 3rd Quarter, and I doubt there were 500 fans still there.

Guess I don't understand the point you're trying to make.
What's the highest attendance ranking UK could achieve if it sold out every home game?
You can only get what the stadium will hold.

Tell Mitch Barnhart that. He keeps pushing fans away from having the true fan experience.

Funny how he thinks he's taking a shot while at the same time making the OP's point. Ive pointe this out for years that there is not a fan base in America (in any sport) that has shown out like UK football fans over the years. Its not even debatable. We had started coming to games when they built Commonwealth in the 70's and fans showed up year after year with 3 win seasons. This guy acts like top 30 is a slight, hell that's INCREDIBLE! Even way back then UK was top 30 in attendance with a 75-100 ranked program. And if you counted road attendance we're probably top 20.

Most of them have nothing else to do or look forward to in their meaningless lives.
You could say the same thing about some sap sitting in a tree stand for months, sweating or freezing and waiting for a doe to walk by that'll fill the freezer. You could say that about someone who fishes all the time or works on their car nonstop or smokes a pull-apart tender brisket for 20 hours. Humans are fun and quirky, Man. To diagnose a Saturday excursion to a college football game as having an otherwise pathetic and meaningless existence is nearsighted to say the least.

You haven't lived till you've seen a college kid chug "water" from a mason jar and damn-near go blind. That's worth the price of admission alone.

You just described two things that actually contribute and benefit, comparing to tailgating and watching football.

You just confirmed my point.

More things "contribute and benefit" than what falls within the confines of your opinion. Camaraderie, sharing food, socializing, and supporting a common cause all make us human. Few things are as beneficial as feeding our need for connection, laughter, fellowship, celebration, and food.

That said, feel free to stick to your curmudgeonly, pessimistic view. I'm sure the people enjoying themselves at tailgates and games won't care. 👍

They don't have lives to care about. Thank you for confirming that!

They've always shown up... to tailgate. Even when the Cats were getting pummeled by the SEC in the mid 90s. Half of them never went into the game. Used to get free tickets an hour before kickoff most games.

It was still pretty easy to get tickets in the early 2000s until we beat Georgia in 2006 and then LSU in 2007 the year they won the National Championship. Never easy to get a tailgate spot or a parking pass since I've lived here.

You are far too negative. If someone enjoys going to a football game win or lose that doesn't make their lives not worth caring about. Now someone who spends all their time on an anonymous board with an anonymous ID trying convince everyone else of their superiority that would describe someone who probably doesn't have a life worth caring about.

I just reviewed and found that you can find the ignore feature by hovering over the poster's Icon {in case anyone else is curious).;)

I suggest that everyone just put the loon on the ignore list. I am. For someone who claims to have a life, he sure is quick to respond to comments that are of no consequence to him since he has a life. Sounds like a narcissist.

Edit: seems like he must have disappeared. We can now resume normal conversations.

Plus he posts a lot on Rafters as well as here, so not sure of his agenda.

Or just hit the report button on the obvious troll and watch him disappear
