Weather channel is showing pics from the towns affected from Arkansas to Illinois. Just complete devastation. Many without homes. Those with useable homes have no power and they say the temps are supposed to hit the upper 20s there tonight.

With all the advances in warnings it's still absolutely the worst for these storms to happen at night.

Pretty horrible down here. I woke up to the news that over 50 people had died. Nowhere near where I live but I guess the storms were pretty bad here over night as well (I was enjoying a nice IPA-induced deep sleep and slept through all of it). Just tragic.

I once got caught in a windstorm while camping and was petrified for fifteen minutes. It’s the most scared I’ve ever been in my life, and this includes the time a bear decided to break into our tent in the middle of the night. Imagine the fear those poor people endured last night. Now factor in the fact that their lives are now turned upside down.

I had a small, poorly formed tornado go over my house before it touched down a few miles east of me about two years ago. Thankfully it did some damage there but no injuries. When it went over my house, it rained harder than I’ve ever heard. Hopefully what’s the closest I ever get to one again. Sorry for the sideways photo.

Many years ago, I was as volunteer firefighter and went to the aftermath of the Campbelltown tornado. Houses were sucked clean off the foundation….nothing left but a toilet bolted to the concrete. Swathes of trees blown down like matchsticks
