<div class="messagebody"> The main play that cost us this game was the kickoff out of bounds after we had just taken a 14-3 lead and seized the momentum of the game. Their offense was doing little or nothing against our defense when they had no field position. We needed to kick to them and keep them bottled up. We would have had good field position to move the ball again right before halftime.

Instead, we kick out of bounds, they get the ball on the 40 and pin us deep with a punt to the one. Any coach with his right mind would have not had Dixon so damn deep in the backfield. We should have faked it and thrown the bomb, like so many teams do to us. If it is complete, great. If not, then at least we loosen up the defense so that we could maybe run something else and might eke out a 1st down.

No, in true MSU form, we do the most stupid thing we can do. And then we don't even cover the punt.

This was all caused by the kick-off out of bounds. It simply gave them new life and put our defense on its heels again. We could never flip field position the entire night because of our pathetic kicking game. SOMETHING must be done to replace Blake McAdams. He cannot get the job done as an SEC punter. He has really cost us bigtime over the last 2 seasons. </div>

Not just the kickoff. A kickoff that surrenders 20 yards of field position followed by a punt on our next possession that surrenders a lot more than that is a big giveaway.

Far worse than the points given up were our coaches who got SCARED, yeah scared, at halftime and changed the way we approached the game. The play calling changed. The personnel choices changed. Croom quick coaching to win and started coaching not to loose. And that only works when your defense can score. And our's didn't so we lost.

the horse collar tackle hurt us and gave them 1st and goal at the 1-1/2. They did the same thing to us on our next series and it was worse, but no call. The late hit call hurt on the int. That turned into a turnaround of nearly 50 yards and we got nothing out of it. This was a travesty of a game and I know there was not a single MSU fan that didn't feel at halftime that we were going to lose. It was inevitable. We've been there too many times before. We never got into our game plan. I thought that Carroll was doing ok till the first int. which was a tipped ball. I thought they were trying to pass too much in the first half, but I understand why. We made big plays, but most got called back for a penalty. 10 penalties versus 5 for Tech.

my 120 pound son could kick off to the 5 or 10 yard line every time. Between the lines. As many other 6packers have said, there must be somebody on campus that can do better than what we have. Hell, I bet many of us over-the-hill geezers could do it.

Do we not have somebody on the team that can punt the ball further than 16 yards. That guy is terrible. I have heard of out kicking your punt team but your punt team out running your kick. ridiculous!
