Kind of weird situation at UMass with Frank

Frank Martin just hired Derek Kellogg as an assistant. Kellogg was formerly the head coach at UMass from 2008-2017 before being fired.

I wonder how many guys were fired as a head at a program and returned several years later as an assistant. Can't be many.

That is strange.

Kellogg played there as well. His coaching time at LIU brings significant knowledge and contacts in NYC and the region.

Didn't help when he was head coach but it will help now that he's assistant?

In Frank's interview, was his pitch - "hire me and I'll bring back the guy you recently fired as my assistant and that will make us better".

You'll have to help me out on the second sentence. I have no context for that.

As for the first it's a whole different world when you don't have to tote the heavy bucket.
