When he first left Tuscaloosa to go back to his alma mater, I thought he’d crash and burn because Kirby is a nice guy, but is not polished. He’s not neat or organized. His wife and kids weren’t at all what you’d expect from a Broyles Award winning household.
What you see is what you get. But he’s surprised me with how well he has fit that spot like a round peg. I underestimated how well he could maintain his relatability with his players while juggling all that comes with being a head coach.
