Can I just say, after reading the UGA "incident report" and Knowshon's epic, my faith in entire American public education system, from grade school to university, has reached an all-time low.

An essay on noise pollution?

This country's descent toward hell continues unabated.

This has really brightened my day.

And it's clear from reading the "research paper" that he spent all of 20 minutes working on it right before turning it in.

Classic.

Interesting that the violation didn't occur during the quiet hours. According to Moreno it occured at 11 PM...according to the paper it was 12:45 AM. Regardless, neither of those fall during the quiet hours. Strange.

1. No warning?
2. He can't turn in a paper as an attachment rather than in the body of an email?
3. What total ********. I guess noise might have bothered me my first year in school. But, by about the third year, and having lived in a fraternity house for over a year, noise was a non-issue.

That's great.

I think my favorite part is "site 1" and "site 2" and of the "sites," one was wikipedia.

I applaud the tone of the letter, but damn, how did this dude pass English comp?

I'm impressed with his use of the comma. When I read athlete papers in grad school, there were usually about 16 words between periods (and that was the only form of punctuation).

Saying that the assignment was 'time consuming and boring' is awesome!

correlation between his poor writing skills and his inability to repeatedly fail to turn in the assignment as an attachment rather than in the body of an email. So, this guy is noisy, stupid, and pretty damn oppressed by the rules of the dorm in which he lives.

...and we're talking about a noise complaint. In a dorm room. On a saturday night. I wouldn't have given a rat's *** about doing a spell check (even though his was pretty bad) or putting in the effort to write a nice paper either. I'm sure Knowshon has better things to do than worry about an essay on noise pollution or the correct way to send a paper through e-mail.

On a side note, while hanging out in Athens one night at a friend's apartment, we got a noise complaint (and citation) for talking loudly on the back porch. There was no music, no shouting, and we hadn't been drinking very long. It was just four people having a conversation on a Friday night... not even past midnight. The friend who lived there was warned that she might have to face the same "Conduct Review Board" Knowshon apparently dealt with, and could've been expelled had there been alcohol violations or repeated offenses. Athens is an amazing college town, and Georgia has a great campus, but I was a little surprised at how serious they took minor offenses.

I've seen much worse here and in college. Knowshon is a pretty sharp cat. Some other blogs mentioned the sarcasm with which he wrote the paper, which I think we can all appreciate for such an inane complaint. And "Brad" in the complaint is a USCe grad and a wanna-be thespian. </p>
