Look at his line against a damn good ECU team. 8 innings, no hits/runs. I know he had some up and down but clearly the potential to be a weekend starter is there. Consider me excited.

Mississippi State is starting its retooling of the baseball roster with Memphis RHP Landon Gartman. The former Enterprise standout was first team All-AAC this year and the Newcomer Pitcher of the Year. He threw 4.0 shutout innings against State.— Robbie Faulk (@robbiefaulk247) June 1, 2022

From Lincoln County, Mississippi. Played high school ball at Enterprise - Lincoln and then went to Pearl River. Here's his Memphis bio: Link.

Memphis lists him as a freshman, even though he played 2 years of JUCO. Wouldn't that make him a sophomore at best, even with COVID year? So a 4th year Junior for us?

Or did he redshirt in 2020? He has stats, not sure if you can redshirt AND take advantage of COVID year.

And damn, he shouldered a big load with a ton of pitches thrown last year. Hope he's not TJ waiting to happen.

He had four appearances and one start for Pearl River in 2020. He pitched 6.2 innings and had a 6.75 ERA.

In 2021, he had 12 appearances, 11 starts, 9-0 record, 2 complete games, 1.95 ERA.

He got some bigger school and a few pro looks in HS and he can throw it. Just needed the usual stuff. Funny how a year changed things for our recruitment of him.

Ask Yancy Porter how judging our team by it's stature works out? Also, Robbie lists throwing 4 shutout innings against us, as if that's a big accomplishment?

Guys on 247 saying he’s too small and may be a Sunday guy at best

****, a Sunday guy sounds great at this point. Would have been a huge difference for us this year if we had had a sunday guy to bring out for long relief.

Actually he also had 0 hits in those 4 innings. And only 2 walks. Which it may seem like a lot of people may have done this year, but I haven't yet found any other pitcher who pitched 4 hitless and scoreless consecutive innings against us, and i'm about half way through the scheduled (going from the end to the beginning).

Some others who did throw 4 straight scoreless innings, but allowed hits:

 • Chase Burns (Tennessee) - 4.2
 • Chase Dollander (Tennessee) - 6.0
 • Nick Pogue (Florida) - 4.1
 • Brandon Sproat (Florida) - 4.1
 • Drew McDaniel (Ole Miss) - 4.0
 • Joseph Gonzalez (Auburn) - 5.0
 • Trace Bright (Auburn) - 4.0
 • Ma'Khail Hilliard (LSU) - 4.0

So he's in pretty good company.
