I think you're asking about Landon Sidun.

He's a sophomore in HS, so it's kind of premature to be analyzing his recruiting. I believe only 28 PA wrestling juniors have committed, and that includes 2 that committed to Div II programs.

Sidun is very good. He was #1 nationally at his weight last year as a freshman, and is again this year. He's definitely on every D1 coach's radar, including Cael's.

One thing to watch in his recruitment: he's the same year (2027) and projected weight (133) as Joey Bachmann. Or, if he can go 125, that's where Freddy Bachmann projects (2028). Unless their weight projections change in the next few years, it's unlikely that any school gets all 3.

I used to have battles with Chuck Haddad and Mike Briney form Norwin back in the 90's. They've always had a good program. I don't know much about this kid but I have heard of him. I assume he projects at a lower weight?

He's a sophomore in high school. Weight projection is always an inexact science, but I really hesitate to project college weight for a HS sophomore.

That said, he wrestled 114 as a freshman, where he placed 1st at AAA States. This season, he's wrestling 121 (so far). @El_Jefe mentioned 133 in college in his above post, and that might be accurate. Only time will tell.

He could move right into Davis spot at 133. Davis is a Sophomore. Perfect fit if he wants to be a National and World Champion….

Yeah, it's hard to have a ton of confidence in weight projections this early.

However, Sidun is not a tall, lanky guy -- quite the opposite. He's already taller than his mom and within 2-3 inches of his dad (who wrestled 135 his HS SR year). Also, he's known to not cut hard.

So he seems destined for the lighter weights. But we'll see.

2027 recruitment opened less than 1 week ago. Every coach in the country called him. Beyond that, patience.

BTW, can you go back and edit the thread title to correct his name?
You guys can have Landon side 🤣🤣 but that Sidun kid you don't want 🤷😂

I would disagree that he's not known to cut hard.

He specifically did not attend our tournament as a frosh because he needed a break from making 116 for a bit according to his coaches. Saving it for the postseason stretch.

Who knows where he'll end up in college, but if it's 125, it won't be because he's small for the weight. It will be because he's seasoned in how to do it. Which a lot of college kids are, including PSU kids.

Not really. I was 2&2 against Chuck Haddad. The last time we wrestled I had to beat him to qualify for states (junior olympics). I whipped him good that day. I cradled him and had him on his back for almost an entire period. Every other match was close.

Mike Brinney on the other and I was 1&2 against. He was super lanky and a cradle specialist. He pinned me twice with a cradle the first two times we met. Since he was in my section and I knew I’d see him in the finals I worked for like three weeks on cradle defense and whipped him in the section finals 14-2. A matter of fact I cradled him and put him on his back a few different times.

Now my trip to Rec Hall for states was an entirely different story of chaos.
