Saw a blurb online yesterday and can't find it now, but it said the coaching staff was stoked about LaNorris and that he showed up to campus with a college-ready body. QB room is pretty crowded. It'll be interesting to see who emerges as the #2.

I hope this young man exceeds all expectations but I have to add it is always the new qb who fans get excited about. I can't remember all the names of all our incoming qbs who generated excitement never to touch the field in a meaningful way or not at all. It's the nature of the fan. Again I hope this young man is an exception to all those who were predicted for glory prematurely. We do have some excellent candidates to compete for playing time and I don't remember a time when we had as much talent as we have currently.

Awesome!

Our best QB ever was a mobile guy who made plays with his legs and arm & led us to 3x Top 10 finishes.

This is our path to returning to the Top 10 if we'll stay on it.

Unfortunately, we'll probably have multiple transfers as well. The portal awaits.
Right on! Gotta have a guy who the defense has to account for if he takes off.

I know a high school coach that has been coaching in this state for 23 years. Without being prompted, he told me Sellers was the best QB he's ever seen play a high school game in this state. TIFWIW.
Have heard similar sentiments from other folks.

The way we will break into the top 10 or better is with an exceptional QB with a rifle arm and running ability. The QB is the great equalizer against teams with superior overall talent. Michael Vick is a good example. He led Virginia Tech to the national title game on a team that had no business making that game if not for Vick. I don't know if Sellers is the guy to do that but I sure like what I see so far.

Big , strong, fast, smart, and obviously an extremely gifted athlete. It's hard not to get excited about his potential. He sure doesn't look like your typical incoming freshman from a physical standpoint.

from what I've read, he has the
- powerful arm
- speed
- leadership qualities
- and the size.

he'll need to acclimate to the speed of the SEC, the complexities of a college vs a HS offense and the elite athletes he'll be facing on defense. i have every confidence he will handle all those things. he & Connor Shaw are the blueprint for what we need at QB. if we deviate from that, our offense will bot be as good as it could be. i think he & Doty will battle it out for the right to start in 2024.

Agreed with your comments...although V-Tech did have a good bit of talent. There were seven NFL players on the 1999 team. Aside from Vick:

Shyrone Stith
Lee Suggs
Andre Davis
Corey Moore
Nick Sorensen
Shayne Graham (OK, he was a kicker...but still drew paychecks from the league)

I've got nothing against V Tech and admired them for having the year they had. I am surprised it was that many. Out of curiosity I looked up Georgia. They had 36 players drafted by the NFL from 2019 to 2022. Not all of them made a team but that gives us an idea of what teams like Virginia Tech (and us as well) are going up against. Over half of Georgia's draft picks those years (22) were in the first 4 rounds. Teams like Georgia, Alabama and Ohio State seem to recruit like that every year. To break into that top group is tough.

Agreed...UGA, Bama and OSU are in another stratosphere in terms of talent. 1999 V-Tech was not near that level; however, they were more than just a one man show.

Freddie Solomon 2.0?
I was about to put up this coach must not have seen Solomon. Saw Solomon in the Shrine Bowl in Charlotte. What a performance. What joy flowed through ever fiber of my body when Dietzel announced Solomon had signed with us. Back then prospects could sign in December but it wasn't binding til the national signing date in Febuary. Broke my heart when Solomon did not qualify and went to Tampa. Course now I haven't seen Norris. I hope he's as good as Solomon.

The film I have seen on Sellers and reading about his leadership qualities and the kind of young man he is makes me so glad that he is a Gamecock. I believe we got a special young man and an excellent athlete.
