The more I think about it. I'm really hoping we pull Lashlee. Love his blend of offense from Gus and Dykes. Also pretty good defense. Very balanced.
Sec experience as a coordinator and player. Knows what sec players look like on recruiting trail. I like his blend of passing and running. I like it a little better than Chadwells offense. And he has SMU playing well. I know SMU has deep pockets and moving up to ACC so not sure how likely but I hope we as an sec school could intrigue him before Arkansas is open.

The things I have read are saying SMU would outbid us. And that going to the ACC is an advantage that he might prefer. Easier competition yada yada. He would probly be a good choice tho. Not my first but I wouldn't complain. He has plenty of experience.

I dont disagree with your take and think it would be a very good hire, but when I saw his name on our list I automatically thought it was a ploy by his agent for an extension

How is it an advantage to go to a league where you have a decade of zero conference revenue, AND a much tougher schedule? SMU is going to be a disaster of a job until they start getting checks from the TV revenue.

I don't know if money would be the deciding factor for him. He took a 250k paycut leaving Auburn OC job for UCONN OC because it gave him the chance to learn outside of Malzahn who he played for in HS and coached under basically his whole career. I love that mentality.

Who has built the better team overall? I know offense is important, of course, but we need someone who can build the entire program. Leech retooled everything to his offense and ignored the defense and special teams. We got lucky with the DC.

With recruiting, the portal, retention, picking coaches I feel like we really should have who’s strengths deal with building their program.

I really don't know. That's just what a little article said. I always figured the SEC trumped everything. Easier schedule tho makes it easier to win 10 or 11 games and get to the playoff etc. They got plenty of money supposedly

Ross Dellinger told Bo this morning that we can't compete with SMU money wise to get Lashlee
SMU is currently #88 in recruiting. Finished 2023 #72 in recruiting. Previous coach at SMU finished #51 in 2021. I like his results, but can Lashlee recruit? Maybe he deserves even more credit because he wins win a lesser roster.

SMU hasn’t been relevant in years even with all their money. They’re winning and the stadium is half empty every week. Sure they can pay Lashlee whatever they need to keep him but do top recruits want to go there? If they’re good enough to draw top NIL dollars SMU still has to compete with the Bamas & UGAs and Texas’s for those same recruits.

But it’s not an easier schedule. The ACC slate is going to be way more difficult than the AAC slate…..and the boosters are going to essentially have to keep the program afloat for a decade. It’s about as big of a disadvantage as a coach could have. He’d be taking a huge gamble in staying there and having to ride that train downhill.

Lot of schools are struggling after their move up to big 12

Easier for him than coming to the SEC. I'm just telling you what some pundit wrote. I have always heard coaches want to coach in the SEC cause it's the biggest challenge. Obviously Lashlee wants to win so he doesn't get fired. Winning is the goal. I would feel better playing ACC competition than SEC competition.
