Last weekend, I talked to an Alabama fan....

....that was doing some work on my neighbor's house. During the course of this conversation, the Alabama fan went off on a little tangent about fake Ole Miss football national championships. Shortly thereafter, I retreated back to my house to avoid being hit by the pillar of irony that was no doubt about to come smashing down.

since 1960 that are fairly legit (as far as legit goes without a real playoff system). However, their claim to 12 NCs is laughable considering they claim one from 1941(?) when they were 9-2 and MSU beat them and finished with a better record. UM has no claim to a NC like most of Bama's under Bear Bryant.

in Townhall magazine yesterday that Thad Cochran was the worst porker this past year, almost twice as much as #2 Ted Stevens. Gotta love liberal Republicans.

To attempt to avoid the lock, Cochran went to Ole Miss, right? And more of that money went to OM than State, too, right?

You can't get that much more obnoxious in my mind than wearing a shirt celebrating national titles won well before a significant portion of the current fanbase, including yourself, was born. If an LSU or Florida fan wants to wear a shirt celebrating their recent trophies, go right ahead. Their team won them, and they most likely watched on tv at the very least, and some attended those games. I get that. When you add in the suspect claim to some of those titles it's even worse.</p>

remember CB9 bragging about all the money that Foglesong brought in? Yeah, that's counted toward Cochran's pork.

their top-ranked recruiting class? How pathetic do you have to be to celebrate a recruiting class?

Edit to add: I know we all get excited about big-name players signing, but printing tshirts takes things to a whole new level.

As a recipient of one of Larry Templeton's highly embarrassing commemorative postcards showing "the stop!" may I humbly suggest you not go there. Also, I've seen pictures of one of my chromosonally-deficient uncles proudly wearing his Christmas 1980 "I was there when we beat the Bear" t-shirt ... last year.

I don't think we want to get into a pissing match with anyone else over which fanbase has the stupidest t-shirts.

of any university in the country. I have absolutely no qualms about getting either. Sure, it'd be nice if every Congressman/Senator cut out the pork totally, but as long as any is bringing home pork, mine BETTER be.

at least it was celebrating an actual game that we actually won and not some ******** "#1 recruiting class" or national "championships" that were "won" after the fact, even though in one case they finished second in the SEC and lost to the conference champion, who by the way was undefeated that year (not to mention the other 5 or so that are extremely dubious at best).

I didn't intend to turn this thread into a debate about which fanbase was the most delusional. I think everyone can agree that delusion rises and sets over Tuscaloosa, AL. I was suggesting that ol davatron guard his flank given some of the stupidity and retardedness that has come out of the Jewel in the past.

The postcard was one of the lamest things I've ever seen. Especially when it came in the middle of our 6th straight 3 (or fewer) win season.

That was just ridiculous. Yes, it was a great stand. Yes, it was a great win, any win over Bama in football is to be celebrated. But come on, we were a whopping 3-7 after that game with the guarantee of our 6th straight losing season.
