This is a must watch to start the season. Lavar says it's the most detailed interview given by a guest (Ki-Jana) that he's ever experienced. To me, Ki-Jana is the greatest running back in PSU history that never got a chance to really prove it. Joe's style of coaching was to pull starters once the game was well in hand. The majority of games that year were well in hand by halftime so KJC didn't get the carries he needed to win the awards.

I think kijana could have had 2700 yards and maybe more with that offense and 20 carries a game. That said I'd take Curt Warner over anybody.

I love both Carter and Warner, but put Saquon Barkley behind even an average offensive line, let alone a poor post-sanction offensive line, and he is literally unstoppable and the greatest in our history.
Barkley and KiJana is a tough debate for me. Couldn't argue someone picking either of them.

I do agree with the others that Joe cost KiJana a Heisman but not giving him the carries he needed.

Agree with the first part but not the second. Don't forget Kerry was also pulling a lot votes away from Kijana. In any case Rasheed whatever in CO. didn't deserve it. All we hear was 2,000 yards, 2,000 yards yet when LJ does it, it all of a sudden doesn't mean as much.

I agree-Kerry and KiJana kind of split the votes. KiJana had 100 less carries and only 2/3rd of the numbers of carries. It's almost impossible to win an award with that.

LJ should have won though--I was more angry about that than KiJana/Collins.

Its also pretty sad that its now become, or pretty much has become, a QB only award.

I was at PSU with Ki-Jana, so maybe I am a little biased, but I thought Ki-Jana was the greatest running back that I would ever see. Then I saw Barkley.
LOL, I was at PSU in the 80's and saw and thought the same about Warner. Then Ki-Jana came along and thought the same and then Barkley came along. But Barkley is at the top, at least for me.

So sad he had that terrible injury in the pros before his career got started. He was special. A TD threat everytime he touched the ball, strength in lower body and incredible breakaway speed.

This discussion reminds me of back in the day when i frequented the high end "gentlemen's clubs" here in Dallas. I'd think "that is the biggest smokeshow i have ever seen"... then 5 minutes later, next girl on stage, and "No, that is the biggest smokeshow". Then girl #3 jumps on stage... well, you get the picture

I listen to Lavar on Fox Sports Radio early am sometimes when I'm going to work. He and Brady Quinn seem like good guys. I loved him as a player and am thankful that he loves PSU and his son is wearing 11. It just seems like Joe didn't sink into him 100% like some other players. Maybe 80%.

Why do you say that?
