Funnily enough, according to player reports and supported by this audio, he never flatly told the team he was leaving for the Bama job. It's obviously heavily implied in the audio.

Nevertheless, that speech could have been about 90 seconds instead of nearly 9 minutes.

That's what I got out of it. He never addressed it head on. Just left it up to everyone to read between the lines. I'm now convinced he's going to fail b/c he's a beta that will not be able to handle the Bama culture.

Interesting observation. Notably, Bama flailed in the wind for a decade before Nick Saban arrived and put everyone, boosters and trustees inclulded, in line. If you can't talk plainly to a room full of 19 and 20 years olds, how are you gonna handle Alabama boosters?
