Let’s say we make a bowl game even at 5-7…

Would you want new coach to “coach” the game? I think it would be great. Cutcliffe did it for ole miss when Tuberville left.

Most likely no. You just go out and recruit and mine the portal for the guys you’re bringing in to replace all the players playing in the bowl.

Clean slate and no conflict of interest when you show some of these guys the door.

Depends on what that coach wants. Not likely.
I have seen those that come in late, want to change a lot, which may not work well, on very short notice.
So No.

At 5-7 we will probably go to a bowl game we can win. It might be in the middle of Idaho. ********

No, don’t want him associated with the 2023 msu football team in any way. We’ll be replacing a lot of starters anyway - no reason for him to waste time coaching them for 2 weeks.

Fresh start in the spring.

No, too many distractions I think for a new coach. Get in the office, get to know the current players, existing staff, recruiting status, put together a new staff, and install the new system. This season is over at that point and the new one is WAY more important than crappy bowl game which is all we'll get

It’s pointless really. Hopefully our coach will be coaching at that time anyway and then they can come in and hit the reset button.

I mean it may be logistically impossible. If we are in the Birmingham or Gasparilla Bowl those games are before Christmas.

No- let Knox finish it out. This team needs as much stability as it can get.

This. Too much risk in looking bad and starting off with a bad taste. 2023 is not the new coach's team. As stated in other post, he will be assembling at staff and recruiting. If we somehow get a bowl it'll be the current clowns show to run.

Almost never happens unless it’s an internal succession situation. I can’t see it being a good thing other than giving the new coach a closer evaluation of talent and coaches.
