So, how do we beat rutgres? Let’s game plan. Shotgun? RPO? Fade routes? Run up the middle?

1. Flank our “offensive” tackles out on the edges of the field. That reflects our generosity and commitment to prevent pass rushers from accidentally bumping into them.
2. Have our running backs count to at least 10 Mississippi before any forward movement.
3. After every play have our offense rush to the line of scrimmage, then wait at least 30 seconds for all still portraits to be completed.

I liked that strategy of having the passer throw from his knees, but wait if the QB did it he would be called down, so we would have to line up for a field goal every pass play. Seriously, we have not been blown out by anyone yet, so at least the embarrassment factor is minimized. Well, there is the OL performance to consider. So, let's give Sean credit for being willing to continue to take the field. This season is looking like the mirror image of last season, but if we buck up, we still have at least a seven-win season in our grasp. Not good, but wait until next year.

I can multi-task Bob, so I'll continue to hate all things PSU football while offering the sage advice that we should try to score more points than rutgres.

Fake field goal attempts at the 2 yard line.
Going for it on 4th down midfield.
Throwing 4 yard pass plays on 3rd and 10.
And to show Rutgers something new, the corner fade to our smallest receiver.

I'm worried about rutgers, they won't beat themselves. We are pretty damn limited offensively at this point

Not sure of all the issues with Ciarrocca, but sure seems like the offense and running game improved through the season last year. What's concerning is this season it appears as if there's been barely any improvement

And Ciarrocca did not have a winter conditioning season, spring season, summer workout sessions, and a fall camp with the team. In fact, I don’t think he actually started in person coaching till mid-September of last year. Yet somehow he managed to beat Michigan and put 56 on Illinois.

Back in the day before video games got really good, I used to play one against my brother and when I was on defense I would just run the field goal block defense about half the time....worked like a charm. I think we need to give it a shot against Rutgres

the offense was more productive last year for sure. In fact, in terms of several measures it was also better than 2016-2019 period. last year was totally a product of major turnovers impacting games and the Indiana loss. In many of last year's games we were losing early and already had the edge in the stats. That is our stats were NOT garbage time. We were beating these teams on the field and losing on the scoreboard. last year's schedule might have been a little easier especially toward the end, but everything you are saying I would agree with. This year we have had far fewer of the major turnover problems and the defense has played much better. One big difference we had last year was a QB who could come enter the game after Clifford got hurt - since he gets hurt every year. While not as good as SC, Levis was close. This allowed SC to try and use the whole toolbox - especially run. We also had Levis grinding out short yardage runs like a fullback. That is a significant difference. Even yesterday, Clifford did not start the game truly 100%, and as the game went on, he was far less than 100%. As has been repeated many times, IF SC was never hurt at Iowa, we win that game and go on to beat Illinois. If you throw in PJ not getting hurt, this team right now is 9-1, not 6-4. With such poor depth, it was a small margin for error.
