I know most of you here aren't big fans of McCorvey (and rightfully so). I also realize that most of you understand that Croom gets an inordinate amount of good press due to his being a good guy & the first AA at his position in the SEC.
However, the press takes it a little too far with this (taken from a rivals article):

McCorvey wasn't terrible at Alabama.

I personally think it's a little of both, combined with lack of talent.

He is a hot comodity. I live in constant fear someone will steal him away. I tell everyone that. Your problem is you have no interest in talking it up.

I agree on "a little of both" and talent.

However, I wouldn't give McCorvey too much credit for 96 Bama either. Shaun Alexander and the defense should get the credit for 1996. Freddie Kitchen was pretty terrible.

Iraq has great quantities of weapons of mass destruction and Woody McCorvey is a hot coaching commodity.

It damn sure worked for you last season.

You can hit coach up if you want to be sarcastic about that.

I would HATE to lose Woody McCorvey. I hope he doesn't leave to take some other job. It would be hard to replace him (wink, wink).

maybe initially becuase McCorvey wasn't familair with Croom's offense. But I really believe that McCorvey is calling most of the plays. I doubt Croom would say that he is "taking over the offense while Woody is out" just as lip service. That and the fact that whenever we actually had a pretty good game on offense all of a sudden the rumors that Croom just lets Rocky call the plays for just that one game for no explainable reason make believe that the truth is a lot of State people just don't like Woody. It seems that a lot of people feel that the only reason he was hired was because he is one of Croom's best friends and he is sucking off of the tit. I think a lot of these people feel like we could have gotten someone a lot better as an OC to. Oh, and the fact that the offense has struggled hasn't exactly helped either, athough I'm surprised that no one has ever mentioned that here (sarcasm).

McCorvey actually doing what he is supposed to do.
Croom doing it while McCorvey is out.
Rocky doing it sometimes when Croom lets him.
Carroll at the end of the Liberty bowl.

Anybody else? Stan Jones, maybe?

I am even more scared of who Croom would replace Woody with...
He might promote a defensive coach to the OC.

I don't think Nix is a hot commodity either - he was about to get fired for South Carolina.

Seems that they may have just thrown some AA coordinators in there, b/c Charlie Strong always makes these types list but I don't think he's really sniffed a HC job has he? If our team does well again, Harbison would be a legit addition to the list.

if we dug up Bill Walsh and brought him back to life as the OC. Croom will keep us just like we are!

I think that's more than just a perception. Croom has been quoted as saying that he and McCorvey made a promise to each other many years ago that whichever one got a head coaching job first would hire the other as coordinator.
