Three WESTPAC deployments.
My B-I-L (Marine Recon), was on ship offshore when Marine Barracks were blown up in Lebanon.82 to 86 with reserve duty after, Topside Petty Officer in Charge of Combat recovery operations on CVN69, The Eisenhower, the second of the Nimitz Class Carriers. . Spent many many long days and nights pitching and catching off the coasts of Lebanon, Israel, Syria and Libya.
The Ike is back on station patrolling the dangerous waters of the Eastern Med and Red Sea as everything simmers over there.

Gulf of Tonkin, Gulf of Siam, Hong Kong, PI, Okinawa. 26 years in the Reserve in Convoy units and Naval War College. The Med, North Atlantic, Portugal, Korea. Called back to Active Duty to work on Pacific Fleet staff.

Astute observation.Far and away my favorite of the SNCOs. MSgt is concerned with their Airmen. SMSgt is kind of an admin position unless they’re a diamond.
Chiefs can be amazing of trash. It’s a crap shoot.
Let me say it is humbling to read about the service to our country each of my fellow vets have rendered.
