What made the scuffling dudes immediately turn into hugging dudes? Did someone say something like, "Hey, Auburn just converted a third and long?"
They realized they were being recorded and decided that pillow fight wasn't going to up their street cred much.

They realized they were kin. Which is also the reason they were scuffling.
So this is my favorite concert story of all time, even though it happened to my close friend and I can only imagine how awesome it must have been to witness.

Circa late 1990s, when Lynyrd Skynyrd was essentially a cover band, they played in the Denver area. Not totally sure about the year/venue, but it's not important. All through the show, the guy in front of my friend kept putting his feet up on the chair in front of him. There was a woman sitting there and she was getting extremely annoyed about being kicked in the head. This persisted for several songs until finally her man, seated beside her, decided enough was enough. He stood up and yelled at the guy behind him to knock it off. Mr. Footrest had consumed many Coors Lights at that point and wasn't too interested in macho boyfriend's opinion. Both guys stood up, exchanged a few words and some icy stares, then fists were fully cocked. The fight was scheduled and the bell was being rung.

But then, out of nowhere, a stranger seated near them stood up and intervened. He yelled out, "Hey! Be a Simple Man!" The two combatants looked at him, looked back at each other, nodded, and embraced in a long, sweaty, Coors drenched hug. Mr. Footrest even offered to buy a beverage for Mrs. Head Kick.

One can only imagine if Joe Peacemaker had gone with Give Him 3 Steps instead. Lives were likely saved.

I remember stories of the Auburn football coach complaining to the basketball coach that Charles Barkley was beating on his football players

Long, long time ago, I was on a business trip to Cincinnati. Went to a bar in Covington, KY, with an older co-worker (Tennessee grad) and our company's field engineer on the local project.

Sitting in the audience, few tables back from the stage where a pretty good local band was performing.

Couple tables in front of us, closer to the stage, was a couple that was having a discussion and next thing I know, they stand up and this guy smacks the snot out of the girls head.

Being the refined Pittsburgh gentleman that I thought I was, I get up to defend this lass. My coworkers both reached up and pulled me back into my seat, stating it was a local matter and let the locals settle it.

While the locals settled matters, my view went to the bands drummer who was watching this unfold. The smile on the drummers face as he observed the proceedings, while keeping the beat was priceless.
