He was the best player on the 2024 team. If he was coming back for his Jr year, he wouldn’t be too far removed from Landon Sims. Granted, he wouldn’t have been here in the first place if he needed 3 years, but still.

Here’s to him being Johnny Cueto 2.0 in the MLB for the next 10 years.

I know there is a chance he’s a first rounder this year and I guess you can’t pass that up… but I could see him being the type of guy that makes a jump into a high first round pick next year. But I guess that’s a huge risk to take.

If you are top 3 rounds the money is too good to pass up. Really top 5.

Loo’s draft position will get enough money to bankroll a cool trust fund that will carry him through life. If he gets to the the big show, he can buy the best house in Curaçao. Good Luck, Loo.

Agree. We were very fortunate to keep someone like JT Ginn as high as he was drafted the first time around out of high school. The signing bonuses are too nice.

Can we start tracking the guys that turn down being drafted in rounds 1-5? I think we'll see more each year
It won’t. They just won’t be drafted. Teams will have handshake deals in place with those guys before they draft em. It’s actually going the other way. There were teams last year that signed 20 of their 21 picks.

there was 0 players drafted in the first 7 rounds of the draft last season that didn’t sign

edit my mistake it wasnt until the end of round 10 before a drafted player didn’t sign.

That's gonna be a real short list. Complete list below:
JT Ginn

Kumar Rocker (although that was unique situation)

Whoever that pitcher was that OM had a few years ago.

Doesn’t happen that often, but it does happen.

Justin Parker made him a lot of money this year. Best of luck to him and thankful he gave us 2 years.

One might argue that Skeen could have easily gone in the first 5 rounds in 2022, if Jay Johnson had not "convinced" him to go to LSU

What are the odds Konnor Griffin goes to LSU?
Friend who knows the family says LSU is telling him they'll match whatever his bonus is. I told him there's no way. We'll see, but I'd be shocked if he goes to college.

Totally agree. You're telling me as a young STUD athlete, your ultimate GOAL is to make it to MLB, in Konnor's case. You gonna pass on a top 10, maybe even as high as a top FIVE draft position in some mocks, to go to school, and possibly even screw your arm up, etc and drag your stock DOWN for the next time you are eligible? LOLLLL. If he does that, well good luck young fella. Your ceiling is already at its max more than likely. SMH...No way he steps foot in Baton Rouge.

NIL and Livvy Dunn did a lot of convincing so he essentially been going in the first round for over a year now

Are you saying he wasn’t able to pull out of the draft before going way ahead of where he thought he was going to go? Wasn’t his fault as it was that low slot value offer….he was always supposed to go at least in the 7th / 8th round…..ask anybody****

With all the departure announcements, when do we see a "thank you starkvegas" post from lemonis?

Asking for a friend.
