Looking Ahead to SC

Eastern Michigan just lost to a bad FCS team so we don't even need to talk about that one. So it appears that SC is back to being hot garbage after a one year wonder miracle run by Lil Beamer. Sellers has been awful for 2 straight games and they struggled with awful SC State. They relied on 2 punt return TDs and a defensive score before putting them away. Plus they've got a lot of injuries on defense. This game is looking even more winnable. I pegged this for a W all along/

Last year UK was a double digit favorite and got rolled by a SC team that had looked horible the week before.

Didn't sc win 8 or 9 games? People act like they weren't any good. Its absurd.

Bottom line: if we mostly run the ball we will win. If we drop back 25+ times, we probably wont. Their entire defense is focused on pass rush and pass d.

Have you watched them? They're awful and may lose to Vandy. We're in trouble if we lose to them. But we won't. Negative Nancies are praying for 2-10, 3-9

Vandy is also probably better than we are at present. That said, I'll be surprised if they win at SC.

SC was very good last year. My point was that going into the SC game last year and this year SC didn't look all that good. I expect the same kind of result this year.

Ever since Stoops critisized Beamer about about culture, Beamer has owned Stoops.

He has, but it has nothing to do with that. They're spending big on football. They have a great staff around beamer and reeling in some very impressive athletes.

If Mitch doesn't get with the times, this is just how it will be.

You just predicted having to pull an upset to get to 4-8 a few posts up. Which is it?
THIS team needs an upset to get to 4-8.

This schedule, in principle, is not too tough to make a bowl game against and the "at least a few" other Stoops teams that would have won against Mississippi were capable of making a bowl game had they played this schedule.

Not too tough? Its one of the hardest schedules in the nation.

That said, if we run the ball we can actually do it. We beat ole miss if they don't stay pass happy. This team cant win tough games throwing 30 times a game.

You know sometimes you don't have to be that great if the other guy is just worse than you are.

Agree. I think our very best stoops teams could do it. Hopefully the sec gives us a break next season.
I bet we get TN, FL, & Vandy plus OK, Bama, Miss ST, Missouri. LSU, and Ark. I don't view this any easier than this year. We just have to get BETTER. Othr than our three permanent teams we will not play any team next year that was on our schedule this ear. It is a very simple solution for our program to start winning. Bet ter players, better coaching staff that can and will develop players. Other schools are doing this, what can't KENTUCKY?

Yes, get better everything is what we need. To do that we need more money, which isnt happening. Since that isnt happening, we're going to need an alternative approach.

Right now, we have the dc in place to adjust his style to the talent. He's great at that. Elite even. We just need an oc that can do the same, with a focus on running the ball. That's because we will never be able to afford a top tier qb. Best we can do is take massive risks at QB and hope one pays off. That still costs a good deal of money and just isnt worth it.

I wasn't shocked that Vandy won that game. I was surprised by how much they won though. Vandy isn't the typical Vandy this year and their coach is pretty good.

Eh, 6 and 6 or 7 and 5. For vandy that's great but for any other sec team that's a bad season.

I definitely didn't see SC playing that poorly at home. Qb going out doomed them but we're outplayed from the get go

Louisville, Vandy and South Carolina have all improved, making our schedule tougher than it was during our bowl years.

South Carolina doesn't look improved at all to me. Sellers hasn't played at the level he did last year and when he went out their offense was done. Got a couple decent players on D, but it's a step down too, not as much as their offense.

Agree. They have slipped and are a very beatable team.
