Yeha, i'm writing this late and probably make a fool of myself since I have NOT recently watched the game... but i did watch a 10 minute highlight reel and one thing that caught my ear was the announcer mentioning that UM was clearly a top 4 playoff team... and a moment later we tied the game at 14 and would go up 17-14 soon thereafter. In fact, down the streatch, we were about the only one to give the maizy blues a good game (well, unless you call what georgia did to them a good game lol... ok, it was good for me lmao).

I watched Sean make one clutch play after the next despite taking an unreal pounding. I came way thinking that if our D could have stopped Hassan (paging mister mustipher) we have a really good chance to win. The stats bore it out... when you consider how many yards we LOST due to sacks, the bottom line was we were right there statistically AND on the scoreboard and should have won the game.

So while going to AA will be a daunting task, a healthy SC, a better OL, and a tougher defense might give us all the edge we need.

Sadly, I expect the game will come down to ST's and specifically to our kicking game. But the ability to win this game on the field will be there.

imo, of course. lol

Our D collapsed at the worst possible time in that game-I was so angry at the game. I did feel that their DE Hutchinson was terrific and a key difference in the game- NFL agreed and he was drafted #2 overall and Lions are thrilled to have a local star!
In the second half of season we just did not have it in the clutch after playing well in clutch against Wisconsin in our first game. Not having Mustipher and a banged up Clifford sure were factors but having 2 defensive backs run into each other in the clutch in the Michigan game was hard to watch after D had played so well until late in the game.

Our defense didn’t collapse it was the same end of game coaching that the coaches always use.

also we scored a whole 17 points. Same offense that couldn’t score against Illinois. Not that exciting. This year defense at least first 6 games will not be there to bail us out like it did last year in many games .

so Clifford must stay healthy. He has never done that and if he does and it gives time for players to develop then perhaps we can make something happen better than 8-4.

What positions did each coach play? You left a TE go what 65 yards on a simple crossing pattern for a TD late in the game. Pathetic; truly pathetic. Sorry but that isn't on the coaches; it's squarely on the players.

How many games During Franklin tenure did we just give it up with under 8 minutes left. So once again it happened. everyone around me in the stadium said that exact thing. See the post above we did the same thing I. 4 games last year.

I'd like to see how we would have done with a healthy D (preferably with MP) in all those games. Losing PJ was a serious blow to the D and we often seemed to run outta gas late. a hobbled SC was pounded thanks to a leaky (oft times stupid) OL... give the kid time and he's not too shabby (his running skills are pretty solid). Every team suffers injuries, but at osu they go to another 4-5 star guy while we go to a 3 maybe 4. It alters things.

I think we can be pretty good this year if we're healthy from day 1 and the players are mentally equipped from the get-go (watching our O on the first series vs UM was so ugly I can't imagine what kind of game prep went into laying that turd). So fingers crossed.... we stay reasonably healthy... PJ returns strong... our kicking game stays solid... someone steps up for JD... OL opens some holes and gives Sean time to throw. Doesn't really seem to be asking all that much since the talent is there.

Onward!
