Lost in the SMU/Alabama debate: Indiana has a very deceiving 11-1 record. Its resume is similar to Army.

Army is 11-1.
Army is a Conference Champ.
Army has Bryson Daily.
Army has 1 loss.. to ND on Neutral turf. ND will eventually be the National champions.
If Army isn't deserving of a CFP spot, why include Indiana?

For the same reason MSU went to the Orange Bowl ten years ago.

Every so often a Cinderella P4 team emerges and is rewarded.

This season, it’s Indiana.

Because Indiana is an 11-1 team in one of the top two conferences in the country. Indiana has 8 wins over Power 4 teams and Army has 0.

And Army still has a game (and potential loss) left on its schedule.

They weren’t competitive with ND on that neutral turf. Their best wins are UTSA and Tulane. Charmin couldn’t have sponsored a softer schedule.

Indiana, by luck, pulled the greatest schedule ever to avoid the top half of the BiG but they are at least in a power conference.

Army wouldn’t jump anybody based on their wins: Lehigh, Temple, UTSA, North Texas, Rice, UAB, etc. That is some weak *** cheese.
