"South Carolina has the best defense in the SEC."

And then followed that up by referring to Major Applewhite as "Major Applebee."

Time for the old [17]er to pack it up and head for dementiaville.

But that's part the genius that is Lou Holtz. His pregame peptalks are probably the best part about that show, and it's not because they're good pep talks. It's because they're so far out there that you can't help but laugh. It's pure genius. Out of the 3 guys on that show, Holtz would probably be the last one to be asked to leave.

have always heard that there was a fine line, between the two... Lou, is no Genius! He just "generally" talks a good game.

its obvious he is senile and no one takes the man seriously but the amount of entertainment value you get with lou holtz is off the radar. he's kinda like espn's version of walker texas ranger. its gotten so bad but its watchable because you can't get that kind of comedy anywhere else.

Exactly my point. Holtz is crazy as anything, but he's also one of the main reasons to tune into the show even if you are only an average football fan. ESPN knows he's nuts, which is why they give him the whole Pep Talk segment. It's pure television gold, and they know it.
