LT tried to pull a power play and stay in control

I was told by a person in the know at MSU that Larry had tried to manipulate a way to stay in control of the Bulldog Foundation and thus continue to have control over funds to athletics, etc. There is a post on Bulldawg Junction relating to this but since that time the person who posted that has informed me that they had talked to Greg Byrne and that will not happen. Greg is the Executive Director of the Bulldog Foundation and will oversee it along with a new Board. Larry will be moving to the Bost building and will act as a consultant with the SEC and I have no idea whether or not he will recieve any salary for that or not. the most important part however was that he would have no control over contracts, funds, or anything else relating to athletics. I pray this is true but I would think most folks would simply like to see him retire and move on. Evidently, he is incapable of doing that.

He's staying on, in what role i'm not sure, but his office will be located in the new Templeton Academic Center.

Just wondering.

Didn't screw my girlfriend, thank God she didn't work for him, I doubt he could whip anybody's ***, and I wasn't in rush. Now, is that you Mickey? I guess you want him to stay around and knife Byrne in the back and figure a way to try and get to be AD again. I happen to think that is exactly what will happen.

Greg Byrne is now the Executive director of the Bulldog Foundation and the scheme has been exposed. So LT loses this round. The real question is why is he still on campus? It could all be solved by LT being sent to retirement away from campus.

I am on record as saying it was time for him to go. But, I don't think he is trying to wiggle his way back into control. I think the way we are treating him is commensurate with the way you would treat any long time athletic director. And I think there is no danger in letting him hang around. He isn't going to cause any trouble. And I don't think our new athletic director give a hoot what Larry thinks, who he talks to, or anything else.

Come on guys. It's not like he took over as manager of the Starkville KFC and they demoted the old manager to chief fry cook.

proof of that would be the fact that LT came out saying the Cohen hire was a good hire before Polk started backing off from the craziness. I was surprised. i thought he would have been right there with Polk until he backed down.

but...this is not to say that he wouldn't do anything later. hell he may not give a crap at this point in his career.

I have come to the realization that LT and RP will never leave the MSU vicinity until they die because they evidently have no other interests in life than to be involved in MSU athletics/baseball. In a variation from the words of Hotel California, you can check them out any time you like but they will never leave.

But until LT just leaves and states publicly that he is through, I will never trust him nor his motives.

Porkchop, you seem to have inside knowledge of the situation, and I'll trust that. As long as you will personally guarantee that LT will not launch any agenda-driven revolts or lead an outright insurrection, I will sleep well at night and only hate on him here and there.

that "I support Larry Templeton" and "I want the best for Mississippi State" are mutually exclusive statements.

Futuba, call me obsessed all you want to, but if you think for a minute that the behind the scenes deals that have struck by LT with certain issues didn't exist, then you are clueless. If I were Byrne I would be very careful because there are folks other than me on campus wh feel the same way. Now, if it is only giving him an office to go to in the Bost center, I can live with that but folks like you would more than happy to have things stay the same and let a couple of folks run the University, the athletic dep't, and who knows what else. The only time it will be over is when he is off campus. At that time, folks can rest more easily. Byrne is in the process of renewing the men's head basketball contract and it has been amiable with no lying taking place. The Jumbotron and scoreboard will now be done with no glitches and hopefully at a lesser price than LT was going to get. before you call anybody obsessed, you better do a little investigating to see some of the **** that has taken place under his tenure relating to contracts and tickets.

to severe all ties with LT. Don't let him hang around and have a voice.-----same goes for Polk.

All that will do is piss off Byrne and there will be constant back stabbing.

You can't whip anybody else if you spend time whipping up on each other.

Also-----The Foundation needs another audit immediately after his departure.

I have MSU athletics properly prioritized. I don't care what Templeton does. I don't care where his office is. I don't care what deals he made. If Byrne is fired tomorrow and Templeton named AD for life, I'll say "Wow, that's some crazy ****!" But, since it won't have any effect on my family, I'll get over it pretty quick.

If that happens, since you'll either be hospitalized (maybe worse) or arrested, your family has my sympathy.

And thankfully, there are people who support MSU who want to excel in everything, including athletics, but since that doesn't affect your family, I guess none of us should want those things either. Hell, let's keep LT forever and then we can be mediocre and this board can have a ball bitching and moaning until the end of this century.
