We’ll get by the way teams have in college football for over a century: trust recruiting and player development.

I don’t understand the anxiety. This is how it always has been in college football. Starter leaves and the backup gets his shot.

Yeah, but having a true freshman be one play away from starting? I can see a little angst there.

I know the feeling.
Reno has been a big recruiter since committing as well - very active on social media touting the Gamecocks to other recruits.
Yeah, my forgetfulness is not a reflection on how I feel about him as a recruit.

But that’s just how things used to be and teams rolled with it.

Was it though? Perhaps my failing memory, but most teams carry 3 qbs at least. If they are spread between classes at all, then only one would be a true freshman.

The main thing I can tell you about Murphy is that he is a leader. Everyone on the Texas team loved him. He is big and has a great arm. Not much of a runner, so a true drop back NFL style passer. Very accurate. Hasn't played a lot of QB, not playing the position in HS until a senior. SC might be a good spot for him. The betting money is on UCLA, I am surprised they aren't listed.

Yeah. Seems like a good kid. If he wants to land in a spot he start at a decent program I don’t know where would be a better place than here. We literally have 1 scholarship QB on roster and he’s a RS Freshman.

QB depth is very , very important. I’m all for Sellers but better have some depth. Losing a starter to injury and not having guys to play is a recipe for disaster. I think Doty could be an ok backup but need competition to push that position group. It’s a smart move on Beamer’s part

Yeah. This guy beat out Arch Manning for Ewers’ backup. When Ewers got hurt he came in and lead them to 2 B12 wins. Sellers would have his work cut out for him, that’s for sure!

How do you know? I heard we were about to land KJ Jefferson…..
Before the expectation was UCLA. Now SC is being mentioned a lot by those around MM, along with a few other teams. It may very well be Jefferson for SC. Jefferson is a great runner, but not the passer than Murphy can be. Just depends on how the SC coaches want to structure the offense. Nice to have some options.

Murphy may end up at Duke - his relationship with Manny Diaz goes back a long way according to Tom Loy.

All your big time programs have 2 or 3 guys that could start for other programs, if you’re afraid of competition and don’t
Think you’re the man, maybe you’re not ready and another year of seasoning would do you good! Again, the top programs have qb competition, are we afraid of being a top program!

The problem is a QB thinking he's too good to compete and wants a guarantee.

Maalik would be the starter at USC if he came.
