Mainieri has his work cut out for him

UGA has always been a sleeping giant in baseball. The state produces huge numbers of talented players but UGA never seems to recruit very well there. If they turn that around, they could become in baseball what they are in football.
I think they are doing some major upgrades to their baseball facility so maybe they are starting to take baseball more seriously.

Interesting but preseason college baseball polls don't mean much. Mainieri does have work to do though.
We used to be there consistently, and it did mean something because we were in the final poll as well.
It is a good indicator of where the talent is but doesn't always translate to performance on the field for the season.
Although historically we were pretty consistent between preseason and final polls.
1 - It's one poll, and not even the one that really matters. D1 Baseball is the one to watch for, and I have a feeling they will have us ranked. But folks don't need to get all Chicken Little if it's closer to the bottom. That's to be expected. Personally I would question any preseason polls that would have us any higher than 20, and that's still generous.
2 - Since 2018, we've missed preseason rankings in 2019, 2020, and 2022. Given what was lost the prior season, and how the prior season ended, those years make sense to not be ranked. (I only did a very cursory review as I'm at the office right now, but this seems correct, if my memory serves.)
3 - We are going to be just fine under Mainieri.
I don't disagree but my original comment still applies - Mainieri has his work cut out for him based on what he inherited.

Correct. They don't. That's ok. It doesn't surprise me that they don't have us ranked, regardless of how I felt about it.
