No real details since Ray's "blockbuster" presser back in February, other than it seems major stadium renovations are envisioned.

Per Wayne Hiott, chief executive officer for the Gamecock Club, "There’s certainly a desire for us to keep the look, the iconic look, the same, and that means keeping the same bones."

I do like the sound of a potential university golf course on that undeveloped 800 acres of university owned property near the stadium. Especially if alumni get discounted rates. lol

Why spare the bones if something better can be attained? This might be a 50-year project in terms of impact. Sacrifice anything to get it right. Actually, having read this article, I don't see where any new information is disclosed therein.

Not sure. I don't recall from Ray's presser back in February if any reference was made to major WB renos. All I recall from that was talk of developing the land near the stadium.

They also mentioned stadium improvements in a nebulous way. The descriptions in this article are equally abstruse. For certain, the east side will come in for some big changes. But what about the North End Zone? What opportunities will be foregone in order to save the Floyd building, for example? That's a structure whose principal function was transferred elsewhere a while back. Now, we've got - what - a little drinking shed down there? There are great possibilities for that end if someone has the nads to push them.

And here's a big factor. Tanner is admitting a truth here that some fans have not believed or wanted to face.
Our revenues are not at the top of the Southeastern Conference,” Tanner said. “We’re very grateful for our donor base, our Gamecock Club members and what we do have. But there are schools in our league that have a lot more revenue to do some things they’d like to do. We work hard at it. What we do have is in a good place.”
That last statement is mystifying. Not enough is not enough.

I'll translate the last statement; "we appreciate the money you send now, don't stop sending it because we want more".

One would certainly hope one of the future phases includes big plans for that end of the stadium. Other than under the East stands, it's the most obvious place to add new suites without having to undergo major demo first.

I'll reserve my judgment until after the details are released. At this point, all we have from the AD is a teaser.

Truer words were never spoken. I know a guy who, along with a partner, used to run two or three as part of an LLC they formed. He described for me the challenges they faced trying to stay liquid. Golf course ownership - and these weren't dog tracks - is life on the edge.

Yes, as a rule, the money to be made with a golf course comes from selling the lots around the golf course. The labor, equipment, chemicals, etc. costs associated with golf course operation make it nearly impossible to profitably operate a golf course.

Golf courses are assets that eat all the time but the business is subject to all sorts of economic and climatological vagaries. It's a dicey proposition.

Yep, better to go the Top Golf route as an investment! Recent selloff makes it a good buying opportunity.
