I’m sure there are still some so-called doubters out there because some people just like to have a minority opinion. Think it makes them smarter. But we got a good one in Shane. Not just from the coaching aspect, but because he straight-up loves it here. I don’t know that we’ve ever had a coach who was truly truly grateful for the job here and who was here because THIS is the place he wanted to be.

Loved this quote from him: “I am so, so, so, so, so, so, happy for our fans.”

He says that, and he means it.

I don't remember all the options, but I liked it when I heard his name ... he has been in multiple GREAT programs with GREAT coaches (our own SOS and USC, too) ... obviously, his pedigree and his apparently genuine love for the state of SC and this program ... keep recruiting (not only players, but coaches) .... life is good - Peace!

Chadwell and Napier are all I recall as names thrown around by the fans. I was never sold on either. Admittedly, when Beamer's name was very first mentioned, I was a skeptic, even a critic, and did not think it was a serious option that would ever come to fruition. At this point, though, I cannot recall who I wanted as an alternative.
