Man, UCLA’s head coach appears to not like being in the B1G

He certainly does like bitching to the media a lot.

Didn’t watch the game so I have no idea if his complaints are valid.

The part that caught my eye was the fact that they had basically a 6 HOUR PLANE RIDE to play a conference game

Insanity

Funny how these West Coast teams having to travel to BIG Country are just now realizing that it's a long flight to get there. Who woulda thought ahead that could be an issue? How about everybody in the country except Pac Conference members and Pac office officials evidently

Insanity.
It is insane. One of the big draws to college sports has always been the regionalism.

This is why some of the conference moves baffle me. Cal and Stanford have to got from coast to coast (unless they're playing SMU) and vice versa for ACC reg season games. Silly.

It was all done for football. Other sports don’t matter, including men’s basketball. It’s all about maximizing the football revenue. The other night, I watched an ACC conference game where Virginia was playing at California. Virginia made a 6 hour flight and played a game at 11:30 pm Virginia time. Absolute madness

We all know, 18-21 year old college students aren't able to function past 11:30 p.m. on Saturday nights.

Yeah. But for most players, you’re looking at an additional day out of class or getting home at 6am on a school day for midweek games.

Why do you think they are now just realizing this?
It was an immediate talking point when the changes were rumored, before they were made official.
And when the changes were official, staff from universities talked about the travel in interviews.

Long travel times was a clearly known by anyone involved in the decision. They effectively said '17 it, the money and spotlight for football makes the change worth it' and they signed on the dotted line.

Mick Cronin is not long for that job. UCLA has the most unrealistic fan base in the country. They go through coaches about every 24-36 months and end up hating anyone who isn’t John Wooden.
