Marcus Lattimore on early 2010 South Carolina teams: 'We were just calculated killers'
Gamecock great Marcus Lattimore shares with Gamecock Central what made those 2010-13 South Carolina teams so special.
That was a great interview by Uva. Lattimore credited one person for setting that tone for the entire team....DJ Swearinger. His impact on that run we went on cannot be understated.
SHANE BEAMER....PLEASE FIND ANOTHER STRAIGHT DAWG ASAP!! I don't care if he's a 2*, 3*...whatever. Someone HAS to take control of this team and demand that killer instinct. Also saw a tweet by Ace Sanders that said there was one player that EVER forced him to watch film with him...DJ. He was like "wtf am I watching defensive film for", but he did it anyway bc DJ said so, and said he was a better player for it. I know he's still trying to find a way back into the league, but would be invaluable to our coaching staff right now.
Latti also mentioned Travian as one of those dudes too. So hopefully we start seeing that shine through as he goes through an entire year with his guys.
You know you supposed to have a cover sheet on your TPS reports Richard!! Just think of the media greatness that Justin King could do with DJ.I would hire DJ just to hang out around the football facility...and maybe hit a few people. His demeanor can't help but rub off on people.

The Arkansas sequence was legendary. "WHO CARES!!! WHO CARES!!!"Two big plays stand out to me about DJ. Obviously, the hit on Ellington. Yes, it was a 15 yard penalty, but it set a tone and fired up the team.
The other was against Arkansas. On 3 successive plays, DJ went: personal foul, personal foul, pick six. In particular, after the second personal foul, DJ was basically celebrating. It just fired him up.
Whatever "it" is, he had it.
I agree with you 100%. DJ was my favorite player when he was here, and this team definitely needs a player like him. It also couldn’t hurt to have him around as much as possible to be an influence on this program as well. Another thing though, is that the HBC was that type of dude as well. Spurrier would blow you out any time he could(it’s your job to stop it). He had that killer instinct in him. When he got you down, he wasn’t letting you get back up. Throwing visors and headsets, taking shots, etc…he had that Dawg in him. I said after the Arkansas game last year when Beamer said he thought they played physical, that his difinition of physical isn’t the same. I don’t think CSB has that Dawg in him at all and I think it shows with the team. Love is awesome. It’s great, beautiful, wonderful, and everyone should have love in their hearts for their fellow man, but I’d like to see a little more fire, tenacity, physicality, mean streak, force, basically DAWG on the gridiron from our Gamecocks.
