UPDATED: Marcus Satterfield headed to Nebraska
South Carolina Gamecocks offensive coordinator Marcus Satterfield appears to be headed to Nebraska to reunite with Matt Rhule.
Good points, I would say if money is an issue we could probably keep him, that would tell the tale on if Beamer was happy with him or ready to move on.Kind of mixed emotions on this, but not really. I mean, IF he was the impetus behind the offensive renaissance in the last 2 games, then I'd be inclined to hold onto him. But it's hard to ignore those first 10 games. We'll obviously never know the behind-the-scenes, but I'd be curious to know if Beamer tried to retain him or let him walk.
I am ok either way. Sounds as if he doesn't want to be here (or would rather be there) or Shane doesn't think he's worth a big contract.Kind of mixed emotions on this, but not really. If he was really the "brains" behind the last 2 games, Beamer would not let him go. This may provide the answer to the phantom play caller question. Also, saves Beamer the uncomfortable task of firing a "friend".Kind of mixed emotions on this, but not really. “IF”? You don’t go singing in the street to staring on Broadway in a week. Unbelievable how many actually think satt had anything to do offensive production the last 2 games. Remind me how many offensive points we scored against the gators. Awesome PR moves by CSB if I must say.If he was really the "brains" behind the last 2 games, Beamer would not let him go. It is obvious that Beamer was trying to help his buddy get a new job. I do not fault Beamer for "coach-speak". He was trying to do him a favor and thus help the SC program. The offense against UT and CU looked nothing like the prior 10 games.I'm inclined to agree. After the way Beamer repeatedly and forcefully defended Satterfield this year, it would a major prick move for him to bolt for another job and leave his friend in the lurch. Unless, of course, there more going on behind the scenes.
Need to see if there was a counter offer or attempt to retain him. Did all the complexities of a pro-style offense finally click or did they just simplify everything?
It's difficult for me to believe any Gamecock fans care enough to stoop that low. But if he stinks it up at Nebraska he won't be popular there either. And they're closer to the beginning of a rebuild than we are.I hope not true, but I saw one report that Satt's family was receiving death threats.

It does make you wonder if there was something going on, and now with just two games left in the season Satterfield now decides to completely open up the offense.I'm inclined to agree. Was he auditioning, or is this just some wild coincidence ?
Or Beamer covered for him and used a "phantom play caller" to make him marketable. Stranger things have happened. It does make you wonder if there was something going on, and now with just two games left in the season Satterfield now decides to completely open up the offense.

It won't be the same there as here. Rhule will be the actual boss of the offense, just as Spurrier was here, Sarkisian is at Texas, Riley is at Southern Cal, and Petrino was when he was coaching. This won't be any different.Nebraska has had a lot of success in the past and their fans still view them as elite. If Satt has a Florida type game their fans will be vicious
These questions will never be answered with certitude. I'm excited about the opportunity that is set before us. May we not screw it up.It does make you wonder if there was something going on, and now with just two games left in the season Satterfield now decides to completely open up the offense.

Can you simultaneously be on suicide watch while driving to Lincoln? Well, I guess that's possible.Do we have anyone on suicide watch? Meme queen?
If his family wasn’t happy here, and I can understand why they weren’t, things better go well there. I believe it will because 1) it can’t get much worse in Lincoln, and 2) he will be with Rhule. What is done is done. Not surprised at all. Nothing we could do to keep him. Family wasn't happy.
Great opportunity for him. Definitely left the place better than he found it. Hopefully Beamer can pull us someone good. Next OC better be able to deliver something fast. A new standard has been set after those last 2 games, and fans aren't going to want to go back.

Maybe Both. Maybe SOON AFTER the bowl.Agreed on all counts. I wonder if a move will be made soon or after the bowl?
