I see where he has another year of eligibility. Does he come back? I certainly would think it would help him with any chance of playing on the next level. Plus, I would think a 2nd year with Loggains and what should be an improved line, there is a lot for him to like about 1 more year here.
Thoughts?

I see he needs 266 yards in the final 2 games to get 1,000 total yards on the season. Not bad for a transfer from Newberry.

Really hard to say if he'd come back or not. RB is the position for which wear and tear is the biggest issue.

There's no doubt he's gotten the eye of NFL scouts, particularly with his running style. And, even for his size, he has displayed really good open field speed.

With the success he's had this year in limited exposure, if he could come back next year as RB1 from Day 1 and take a step forward, he could really boost draft stock.

I'm certain he'll at least dip his toe in the water and see where he stands. Given the wear and tear, he may decide it's best to just jump to the pros. From his perspective, a year ago, he was a total unknown. So even being talked about now as an NFL caliber back is huge for him.

We could certainly use him next year (assuming he gets played before 3 games in.... sorry, couldn't help it). But yeah, RBs have short shelf lives (wear and tear), and I don't know that another year will guarantee him to put any more on tape than what he already has. I guess whatever draft feedback he gets will be a big factor, but I wouldn't blame him a bit if he turned pro. If so, I wish him luck!!

Yeah, he was a real bonus this year. A year ago nobody had heard his name. Now he could go pro. Great story for him if it works out.

If his goal is the NFL which I am sure it is. His best bet would be come back for another season, so I don't think there is much to worry about with this one.

Not really. If he get decent evals from scouts, considering wear and tear at the position, he could easily go this year. RB is an easier position to break through, even if you aren't a top pick. RBs also have the shortest average NFL careers.

In December we were collectively underwhelmed with the news we were getting a back from, aghast,
Newberry???

I won't try to predict what he does after this year. Just glad we have him for now.

It is certainly an anomaly.

Pretty good numbers for someone who really didn’t play much until game 3 or so

Yeah, I get it. He definitely could make the league this year if that is his goal. However, the pay year 1 for a 2-3 round guy is way better than a 5-7 or even a camp invite guy. NIL is changing the game for guys to come back because you can make as much as a late rounder fairly easy these days with NIL deals.

Let's not forget Tank Bigsby a 4-year stud for Auburn only went in the 3rd round.

Well, yeah, if he only grades out as Round 6 or something, I'm sure he comes back. It's be interesting to see how it goes. He has surely looked the part and has gotten the NFL's attention, but it's a VERY small sample size.

There are hidden gems in the lower divisions, no doubt. Few and far between.
Jalen Brooks, Carlins Platel, Juice, Jaylan Foster, Nate Adkins, and Mario....lower division players from Beamer's 1st 3 years that will play in the NFL.

It's a good point. RBs have come to be viewed as expendable by the league. It's why it's become less and less common for teams to use high draft picks on RBs. It's a position more prone to busts than other positions. The league just doesn't value rushing the way it once did and often finds more value in RBs drafted later in the draft. In that case, if the difference is Round 3 vs Round 5, maybe he just goes.

We will see. It's still overall very few players from the lower divisions.

If he or his handlers have any sense, he'll come back. Nothing is assured these days when it comes to judgment.
