i only saw a few plays, but each one was a bone-headed play call. our fanbase would go crazy if (when) UK does that.

and the game was non-competitive. if that was a tryout, he failed badly IMO. and I have zero say in the current coach or any future coach...

I still think if we want to win and do so with a great offense, it is Golesh. He would come here and run exactly the same offense that TN runs. That is a fun offense to watch and it is hard to stop. I vote Golesh. No one we can get is a close second to him. Than includes Sumrall.

He may do very well here. But a guy with a 17-13 record and 8-8 in conference is a no brainer home run with nobody else to even consider?

If I had to select today I would want Golesh. For the reason you stated, his offense. His offense can score in bunches something Stoops hasn't been able to do in any of his years. Plus he knows Florida High School football and that would be a nice recruiting base.

I have been one of the biggest Sumrall fans here. I have always thought he would crush it at UK.
Yesterday, for the first time, gave me some pause.
On one hand he didn’t blow TO’s and announcers weren’t mocking his coaching choices. On the other hand his team was flat and played with no fire. I was stunned.

Golesh would be a great choice for sure, but I have a feeling he might be in Gainesville next season. Brent Key is my #1 but he may be out of reach.
Sumrall is a good coach and shouldn't be judged on the basis of one game IMO.

He's at Tulane. This one was a stinker, however lane does have a history of some pretty impressive offensive showings to his credit.

Top to bottom they have much worse athletes than a Ole Miss type team. Them OM wideouts are problems for any team, especially one who doesn't have SEC athletes top to bottom at DB. This was more of a matter of Jimmy's and Joes vs coaching ability.

How many absolute eggs has stoops teams laid? I'll answer that. (Pretty much every big game ever) Even when considered the better team in some of them).

JS basically never lost at Troy and they competed above their weight class as well, Tulane plays pretty well but they don't have the horses for games like this.

Tulane was 3-0 and receiving votes for the top 25. They beat a B1G and an ACC team. Ole Miss looked like a possible fraud as preseason playoff contender. I suspect some UK fans were picking this game as a huge upset. 45-10. Maybe Ole Miss is better than they have looked? NU and Duke appear to be trash, so Tulane’s best wins probably did not say much.

I would still take Jon yesterday.... I'm not taking nothing from this one game he's had way more great games under his belt over his coaching career than to just slam the door shut on him after one bad performance.

JS was never going to be the coach.

His rising just doesn’t match up with UKs timeline of being in the market for a new coach.

He’s been hot for a year or two now and probably needs to sh$& or get off the pot. Windows for coaches to get a big boy gig are generally tight and getting tighter via programs not being so keen on having to pay big buyouts in an era when they’d just as soon spend on talent.

UK needs thinking about the next generation of coaches coming up right behind JS.

Unless UK hires an offensive coach so we can lose 49-28 with 40+ drop backs, the most vocal fans wont be happy.

According to the UF fanbase, Golesh is not in their top 3. Almost all of them are set on Kiffin, the next 2 kinda surprised me Cignetti was number 2, Fran Brown at Syracuse was number 3.

I agree on Brent Key. He is proving he can get his kids to play hard, GT recruiting has really picked up under him. They going to be a problem for ACC. But he is a Tech grad and loves it there. But he was making 2.9m in 24, got a new deal last Dec

I'd love to see Fran Brown here, but imagine he will have his pick of schools

Curt Cignetti, shows the difference a good HC can make at a perennial doormat.

I like Cignetti because of his time at James Madison. But you have to be honest- UK, even last year - was better than any team Indiana beat by a lot. Cignetti took the IU job because of money and schedule. If he is doing what he did last year in 4 years - then I will be impressed. One thing people seemed to forget is this - when Stoops "heart" was at UK he did pretty well for himself and UK! Jon Sumrall probably is a very close to clone to Stoops - except he has shown to be better at clock management, game planning, recruiting and hiring assistants. Jon loved UK and his HEART will be huge at UK. Jon was a great recruiter and with his personality and the resources he would have he would probably be a huge success at UK. Stoops ended his career, IMO, with the A & M fiasco. Last year's team had no confidence in Stoops, however, I will say this, and this is why I am more optimistic about this season now than I was 3 months ago. I believe that Stoops may have or is close to winning this team totally over to believing and trusting in him.

As I have said - the future of UK football is up to him. He destroyed what he had built in 12 hours after the Louisville game two years ago. He is working to get it back. He has to win 6 to get it back on track to where it was before that poor decision. I don't blame him for the A&M fiasco - but Barnhart should have done everything possible to have removed him immediately after that - or at least made a statement to Stoops if you have a bad year in 2024 we will be looking to move on asap. I believe that may be the deal now - if that intent was made to Stoops - nobody would ever know until it happens.

Go Big Blue!

I want our next head coach to NOT be dependent on his offensive coordinator for his offense. I want HIM to have an offense. Defensive coordinators are easier to find and easier to keep .

I have no strong opinion whether Sumrall would be a decent choice or not but if one game against a ranked opponent is enough to knock him off the list he probably shouldn't have been on it to begin with.

Kiffin is the coach UK should go after. He’s underrated and underpaid at Ole Miss.
Unlike most I absolutely love kiffin. Besides being a good coach I love his corny a holeness. At first I was like I can’t stand this guy but ever after I seen the way Tennessee hates him I really came around to liking him.
