As great as Masters HR was, it wouldn't be nearly as remembered if we had gone on to lose that regional. Same w/Vickerson - if we win the SR, Vickerson's dinger rises to the level of immortatlity, just like Masters' did.

just trying to make sure I've got my facts straight... not winning today, which certainly against this team has a better than 50-50 chance of happening, will put a huge damper on Vick's walk off homer... that's going to be a shame if that happens because it ranks so damn high in Bulldog sports...

but damn... if we are able to pull it off today, I'd have to put it on a parallell with Buke's because it was a walk off... on the road and shocked the college baseball world pretty damned good..

I would say the Burke call was better, but I don't anything about the 1990 team as I was too young to keep up.

We played Florida State and I THINK we had to win twice to make it to Omaha (as well as Fla. State). We won that game, they beat us the next day, and we won the last game.<div>

Burke: small dude, could barely get a homerun over the fence if he put everything he had in it. bases were loaded. he as the leader of the team after the team before had very high expectations they didn't meet. his hit was in the top of the 9th. his hit got us a big enough lead to get us to Omaha.<div><div>
</div><div>Vickerson: his hit extended our chances to go to Omaha, but doesn't get us there. His hit was a walk off, on the road, against the #2 team, and an SEC team at that.</div></div><div>
</div><div>Burke wins by a good margin on this. Here is to a new hero born in today's game and new heros in Omaha as well.</div>

that baseball was ALL and I mean ALL we had going on. It was at the end of the Felker debacle and before Williamson could clean up Boyd`s mess and baseball was very personal with a large part of our fanbase at that time. Our baseball radio network was much larger than our football network. I.E. baseball was a big deal at State back then. For that reason and the fact it was done at Dudy Noble Burke`s fete will always be at the top forat least one generation ofBulldogs.
