Can Max beat AJ? What do you think?
In my humble opinion, it'll come down to whether Max can finish the one, maybe two opportunities he'll get. AJ has tremendously flexibility, to go along with his strength, and it won't be easy to finish. Max really looks like a beast, and I hope he gets the opportunity, particularly if they're the last two standing in March. Plus, Max won't get suckered into any off-the-mat stuff with AJ - he'll have his head down the entire time.

Lol. I think he can. He s a man. That circus sideshow kid stuff won t faze him. Man v boy w ripped abs! Kidding , Ferrari s a talent ( kinda like his bravado but imo it plays into Max s mindset) but Ferrari definitely beatable w a smart game plan/ strategy. Max strong , smart and tough. Great instincts and mat game. Needs to be smart in the neutral position . Ferrari will underestimate him. Let s Go Max. Long
way to go till we get there. Hopefully it s for a NC.

On another note , tough situation for Beard. It s like the 800 pound Gorilla in the room. Where do the next 2-3 yrs go from here w these 2 talents? Like Casey said - 2 AAs at the Wght.. I like Beard a lot. Must optimize both guys talents . Idk. AB takes a yr somewhere? How do u fit these guys. Great to have depth . I don t have an answer . Thoughts?
Sonny you were a 4XAA (4,3,2,1) and Olympian. Surely you have a plan? Last ?. Did u coach Cenzo at Central Catholic?

I think Mac Can beat AJ, but not sure if he will (the first time). I’ve only seen Max wrestle once this year and he’s your typical 😉 AA upper weight (transfer) from Cornell now in the PSU room with truly some of the best upper weight coaches in the world training him. If Max unleashes the bow and arrow things could get interesting. I believe the coaches spend more time on wrestling than they do on playing head games but I believe AJ is open to have games played on him. Max could be the perfect straight man to play some head games with him. Also appreciate having two potential high AAs here at 197 and secretly I had hoped Michael had beaten Max out and maybe he will. I’m glad we’ve got the coaches to make the right calls. It’s a great time to be a Nittany Lion wrestling fan!

I would think the match would be a low scoring one takedown match, maybe riding time comes into play. No way that Max gets the bow and arrow on AJ. That would only happen in WWE. Wait a second…

AJ is very strong and of course good wrestler. Max needs to continue to hit the weights and not fall into AJ antics. Should be a great match up that Max can win with continued improvement in the room. Especially on his feet.

The last time I heard a PSU wrestler needed to hit the weights was from a coach on the way home from a Wisconsin dual. It seems a certain wrestler who had a twin wasn’t taking weight training seriously enough. I don’t know if that’s the case with Max Dean. Is it my imagination that many PSU wrestlers look like they just came from a lab class versus the weight room. Quentin, Taylor, Nolf, Noodle Arms, etc. I love the way the coaches coach to the wrestlers strengths. I believe there’s more to wrestling training in diet, sleep, mental preparedness, wrestling at the proper weight, etc. than ‘deadlifting’. That’s a bit of an overreach but oftentimes it seems the PSU grappler looks like the smaller guy out there. 🤷

And I mean no disrespect to any of these guys. Sorry if that came across harshly.

No. Understood. Max moved up a weight and AJ has to cut so it sure can’t hurt. Helped A.C. big time on his way to a National Championship.
